Engineers, Riflemen are very good starts and are generally preffered in order to benefit the whole team, but that is my opinion
because it's highly ineffective. only one hill that it really has any effect on, and you have to control S bend to use it, in which case, you'd probably be better off getting a tank.
NF can take out E2 ref from S bend, way before good tanks are on the field. like 30% into the game, its fairly effective against either side. lamer, jehir, someone else, and i was mortaring the NF base from S bend. it was limited though, since the other team had people repairing .. and for the most part, we were attacking different targets. one or two NF grenadiers were returning fire, but they only hit and killed our armory =S. and hmm, seems i posted in the wrong "general" section.
Because it is only possible when you have a competent team. Unless your team is stacked, you should assume the opposing team is competent enough to have 2-3 engineers keeping the buildings up. A half dozen grenadiers waste their time, while the engineers are getting free points. If the opposing team is NOT competent enough to repair their vital buildings in s-bend, you probably will win the game quite easily anyway without going through such effort.
This can be quite effective if you're smart about it. 2-4 grenadiers with feedback. Assuming you're pushing up around the corner, they serve as last defense against a breaking LT or jeep, which will appear on the mini-map they are using to check their aim. Often enough this tactic results in incidental mortar kills, helping the advance. Plus those engineers, while they might be getting points, are not building walls, allowing your team to push up. Building kills result when you trick the engineers into repair the inattentively killing the rax and then suddenly switch up and kill the VF. Worked often enough in my experience... Not to mention you can deploy someone with with FIGHT from bridge to go and PAUNCH all the engineers. nnnnnnecro!
kind of a pain in the ass to try to take shit down with lobbed mortar unless rax/eng is near, with unlimited tank ammo its better to just use arty feedback to bomb shit with std cannon imo. You can hit ALOT more places FROM alot more places.
mortar is annoying now that the shell has to hit the ground before you can fire another one i used to fire one straight up, and jump out and shoot a low arc shot, and follow it with a rocket... fucks up campers pretty hard
That's been an issue for quite some time, and I have suggested to get rid of that for quite some time. I guess they think we just run around using it like a shotgun, well guess what devalopolus! Skilled grens use it like a fucking sniper rifle!
They're unrelated. I can edit scout rifle/rifle stuff, but mortar changes require code stuff, so the 2 examples are handled by entirely different people.
