New accounts can't leave reviews or comments without spending 5 dollars on steam.
This was implemented a few weeks ago to cut down on bots.

Remove the new NF barracks and make a 'NF enhancement package' for 10$! I take 10% for the idea.

Jesus fuck, then perhaps Bethesda will make games that aren't complete shit like Oblivion and Skyrim.

I'm sorry, but if every time I say Skyrim is shit and someone says "Did you mod it?", then they're not saying that Skyrim is a good game, they're saying it's a shit game that needs mods to be good.

I totally say Oblivion and Skyrim are fairly pants without modding. Oblivion is worse with the enemy scaling, and that actually has to be broken with modding for the game to be any fun - otherwise almost all the encounters take as long as each other.

Skyrim doesn't have that enemy scaling problem, and instead has the zone and player ranged based scaling that they developed for Fallout 3 - which works pretty well. But the game itself is not really all that fun to play after a while, and really needs the little (and sometimes huge) fun tweaks and additions that mods bring to the game to make it good.

Skyrim by itself isn't a bad game. It's a little boring though, and not really great. It's melee system is pants, its UI is clunky, it's levelling system is a downgrade from morrowind - just like Oblivion's was (but a bit better), its weapon selection is again a downgrade from morrowind - no spears, no crossbows in the default game, no throwing weapons, no staff attack (ideally should be left click attack and right click fire). And tbh the vanilla game doesn't actually have enough interesting elements for it to be good, and I think a lot of that is down to the environment, which isn't as diverse as Oblivion's.

That being said...it's not terrible. It might not be fun all the time, but it's still worth money for the breadth of content in there. The biggest shame really is that for all the exploring you can do, it's not really worth it...but that's a totally subjective opinion, so...

I am a entitled asshat because I pay for something and expect something in return?
    Nice ad hominem.

    Gosh, golly.

You must not know how capitalism works.

See if it was for free, I wouldn't expect anything in return at all.
But if I pay 20$ for something and it breaks what I have or does not work?

I am pretty sure I am entitled to getting what I paid for, and if they don't provide I am allowed to get a refund or sue for it because under basic consumer rights it says businesses that engage in fraud or specified unfair practices is illegal which is run by government regulation.

You aren't paying, you're expecting other people's work to be free.

No, im expecting people to not create a monopoly off of peoples work that have been sustained on donations for years and has not been locked behind a paywall.

That has been publicly accessible for everyone in the world.

If you want to pay 30$ for publicly made dlc, feel free to give it to me
I will burn the money for you and give the ashes to the content creators.

Because thats exactly how much they are making.

Monopoly? No one is forcing modders to charge for their work, they're given the opportunity to.

And boy look at that opportunity.
That 25% oppertunity versus 100% no middle man bullshit.

And there is this as well.
Here I will diffuse the situation and the internet rage with this simple solution.

Yeah they have the opportunity to not charge, to ask for donations or sell on Steam.
    Then don't.

I agree. The 75% cut is very suspect.

There's also the issue of users stealing the mods of others and trying to sell them, though that's a temporary issue that will eventually sort itself out as existing free content becomes less and less of a target for that kind of abuse as the content ages.

But I don't see anything wrong with the core idea of allowing hard-working uniquely-skilled users to charge for content that they personally created. Maybe Steam needs to take a lesser cut and maybe Skyrim's mods will temporarily be stolen, but those are just bumps in the road to a completely sound strategy for community involvement.

If you don't like doing a thing then not doing said thing is a reasonable suggestion.
