I think it would be awsome if there was an Single Player Mode! With Co-op Like "Left For Dead" i think it would be awsome! but Remember to make a low limit for the Co-op like 5 or 7 Players and add a window that opens up after you click Co-op so all the players havt to join before you start so if somone leaves your Toast!!! or insted of Toast add bots to Replace the Human that Left.
 um Single player dosent suck its fun and if your bored or your internet is down you can play single player
Empires really isn't conducive to single player. As for bots, the best option might be trying to jury-rig the WhichBots from NS to work for Empires. In theory it should be possible, but I have no idea how to do it.
But simply, Empires is really not conducive to single player. Its a combination of RTS and FPS gameplay elements. Which means this: if the commander was a player, it'd play much like an RTS and if the player was a soldier, well then, it'd play much like an FPS single player, only with interactive AI (if there is any).
Well, not quite. You could make specific maps intended for single player. For instance, I don't think it would be that hard to have an AI defense on a map like Escort -- the mapper would have to tell the AI what points are good for turrets and so forth, so things would be a bit more predictable than against human opponents, but overall it could be played and wouldn't be terrible. A full comm game, though, would be much harder. You could do it by having the AI team build/rebuild in specific scripted places, and making the map deliberately imbalanced in other ways to compensate for these limitations (and constraining the human players -- limiting their research so they can't exploit weaknesses in the AI's scripted research path, say.) Not that I'm saying that this would be worth the work. But it could be done, if special single-player maps with built-in guides and scripts for the AI were created.
I suppose we could make a single-player map right now where the opposition is nothing but turrets and scripted events (make the map auto-switch anyone who joins the wrong team... or create a plugin to do it if that's impossible.) Probably wouldn't be very fun, though...
Portal: Empires Use 3-phase jeeps, 9-mining, and turret climbing to reach the end of each test chamber. Be warned that this next test is impossible. Goodbye!
Code AI to work in Empires and the devs may use them. The bottom line is that if the team puts the effort needed to make good AI forward, the overall development will stall. AI are probably the single hardest thing to code, and Empires is so god damn complicated. It's hard enough to make simple point, shoot, cover AI, let alone an AI for Empires
Really, we'd only need them to be riflemen or grenadiers, because those are easy to implement (move behind cover, shoot at mans)
I think Dawgas was talking about an AI for Escort or something similar. Although we could also just have the AI 'cheat' by, say, giving them a lot of buildings to start with, making those buildings slowly regenerate health, but giving them no way to replace them (and perhaps giving those buildings more health than usual, too.) It'd be a very different game from multiplayer, but it could be done in a fun fashion, I think.
