What's your favorite placement and what map(s) does it work on? So I joined a small match on Palm Bay or whatever this map is called. I hopped into the CV because I was, amazingly, the brightest player on NF. I don't really like this map because it's cramped. So instead of leading my small team (a nooby scout), I played with building placement! I noticed that I could fit a VF at main alongside the existing rax. But I never remember seeing this when I play the map. That's because everyone else drops a radar with the generous initial res. You can't fit a radar and a vf alongside the default rax. But if you move the rax? Ta da! Note that this screen was taken late in the game. I had officially stopped giving a shit and didn't notice that main was sabbed. That's why the turrets are gone. I also made it a goal to cram as many buildings as close together as possible for the other base. BE had no com, so I had time on my hands. Surprisingly, I never saw a vehicle attack. This base is a UGL APC's wet dream. Have you done better? What's your favorite placement and what map(s) does it work on?
I often drop walls, cameras here and there, radars not really as vehicles are easy to spot. I hate turrets and almost never use them. Ammo goes down per request
I only have these two on my dropbox atm. I don't know if anyone beside me can(or knows it's possible) drop a vf in xroad mid. inb4 everyone copies it.
*high fives* As for actual building placement, I operate on a "need to have" basis. There's no logic behind it as I don't command nearly enough for that.
So now we know who to blame when apcs feel not threatened and just waltz inside the main. Seriously , this is some faggy shit right here. No reason not to drop an ml near a choke. None.
I drop walls. Can your beloved APC waltz through a wall? Also yay for one ML shot at a regen APC. Totally makes a difference right? On top of that I often don't have the charge or time to put down that faggy turret. Between pushing, reviving, healing and repairing you only have so much left for such a minuscule detail. Just have the commander plop down a bunch of turrets and let a base bitch or a passing engineer build them. One turret in the heat of battle makes less difference than an accurate SMG and revives.
Blight's radioactive waste map. Place a barrack in the waste. Jump on top of it, build it, recycle all other buildings. gg.
Holy fuck I never thought of that. You could actually build stuff in the waste? Probably not that interesting, but back during the big pugs of 2009, I planned out a base like this for Slaughtered, which I expected to come down to tickets. For anyone who wasn't around, the pugs were essentially a single round every week. Half the community joined NF (under leadership of myself), the other half BE under HSM. We fought over a territory map. Fuck tonnes of planning went into a single round each week. Anyway, from the depths of my archive drive: That fortress was impregnable by any vehicle (none had horsepower to sidewall it at the time), as well as walls being virtually indestructible to anything but the calculator.
Yeah, as well as to try and shield myself from squad artillery targeted from outside of the walls. I built a base about 10 times until I settled on that layout. I then rebuilt it in the match. I can't recall whether it came to tickets or not, though the match lasted nearly 2 hours, but I think we eventually broke them and won it before sudden death. LordDz made a short video that very accurately represented how that match went, and why we don't play competitive games on chokepoint maps.
Does squad arty splash that much? I honestly don't think I've ever squad artied. Omg. I've never squad artied.
Even I have squad artied and saved the game with it(love that on escort, sitting on our flag? NOPE!).
