BREAKING "NEWS" :D http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/us/2009/09/29/nr.obama.facebook.poll.cnn so shld he?
Not to detract from the story but are all American news outlets so blatently biased? Do they even try and pretend they have a duty of impartiality?
Fox and NBC are biased. But CNN is in the middle. If it were about killing bush the story would of sounded exactly the same.
I don't mean left, right or middle, I mean calling the person who put up the poll a coward, idiot, etc. Yes, they're allowed to have an opinion but you don't voice them, you report the facts and leave the viewer to make his own opinion based on that, not your biased reporting of the story.
Duty of what? They're a privately owned company, they haven't got a duty of jack shit. The BBC could be argued to have one considering it's government funded, and I guess it is fairly impartial, but all news is biased, all history is biased, all textbooks are biased, it's impossible to be impartial.
The big american news stations do this yes. Just try to ignore it. After all we don't have to watch it, and it's better to blame news stations for making americans unable to think for themselves than insulting americans by saying that they're too stupid to think for themselves. In the first case they're just constantly being mislead, in the second they really are stupid. AND if they're able to teach their children to think for themselves despite the biased news reports, they probably are twice as intelligent as us when they grow up, while we have yet to prove ourselves.
Bias comes in degrees. It doesn't have to be so blatant. As journalists, it is pretty much their duty to provided objective reports of the news. You probably meant that they aren't obligated.
