it's working well now, but there are two changes that i would like to be incorperated: The Bigger the Chassis of Vehicle, the Lower Speed it Needs to Kill Someone because it's momentum will be higher because of it's greater mass. e.g: with a heavy you can litterally just roll over people at slow speed Pros: large vehicles like tanks that can roll over people in real life larger vehicles can't get as much speed anyway, so this makes it more fair another fun advantage of a heavy tank Cons: if done badly, it could be irritating. badly ------------------------------------------------------------------ also: Other Things To Mention on the subject from what i've talked with people, there is a general agreement that pushing someone against a wall should crush them (check that the wall is touching their mid section, not their feet or this could just kill them any time they are pushed up an incline) so basically: discuss.
Because it's far more realistic AND gameplay-related at the same time. I like it. I doubt this would be hard to code in, seeing as the mass of vehicles is easily changeable in the scripts. A few lines of code that inc-/decreases the lethal speed of vehicles should be doable for a guy that manages to build an entire RTS/FPS-hyrbrid :p
Waste of time. Yeah, a Light going at 20 mph should kill you(as is the case), but a heavy going at 5 mph killing you looks stupid, not realistic.
I think what he's trying to say is, a jeep ramming you at a speed 5 mph isn't lethal. A fifteen ton tank rolling over you at a speed of 5 mph however, is going to kill you.
NF heavy tank should not follow this for frontal hits, it has a mine sweeper that could impale a the front of a line of infantry, and butcher the rest. that really should be taken into account.
Yes. And the part you quoted was just a joke. Really I think it should be more complicated than just lowering the speed that causes damage. If you go under 10mph, you just get pushed around. I think a heavy (and probably a medium too) should just slowly roll over you, instead of pushing you.
a heavy especially, getting 'pushed' by that is exactly what is cartoony. or a gigantic boom tank. anyway, i put it here because in the "organise stuff" thread i was asked to make a discussion thread here. notice something familiar about the format of the opening post?
Why? Are the players so handicapped that they crawl under the tank rather than take tiny steps to avoid being crushed?
good idea but not really needed.. i doubt that people will be able to run someone over goin that slow anyways.. i mean you could just take 2 steps to the side to avoid it
how about buying a better engine? If you want to use standard engine on a Heavy and cant get to 10mph quickly, that's your fault. You can run people over still, but that's not the purpose. Heavy tanks battle other tanks, that's their job. If you want the flexibility to run people over/fight in battle, Empires lets you choose other options.
i still agree with the "if you can't get out of the way of a 15 tonne tank then being run over makes sense"
