i'm not in consortium and i've even used modified gui. only time i used mathacks was like in 2.24 for a 5 games to see what was possible
And hell I just only used "rollbarless nf jeeps" around 2.24d... since it is pointless in 2.30... is that means I get 2 points for each little cheating troll I defeat without any hacks? Use sv_pure 2 and develop the game to make custom contents unecessary, so let's see what you got!

Not in scrims, or servers that enforce sv_pure. But I think we MIGHT (So don't expect this, but I heard something between MOOtant and Empty mentioned) be getting an option. Possibly not for the first release though, and I'm unsure.
I talked to MOOtant, and supposedly the normal particles scale down (e.g. use less resources) automatically. To answer your question, unless they become part of the client, they will just get swapped out for what's in the GCF.
Just tried some custom sounds on the Steam version and it seems like the GCF file overwrote my shit. I hate the stock weapon sounds. WAI MUST IT B LIKE THIS?!
I play with replaced building sounds, have some house/trance stuff on it, that ain't cheating, I honestly don't want to hear these BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR BWWWWWWWWWWW sounds ever again! If I sit in a radar while its making BWWWWWWWWW like a hairdryer I start to feel sick. Since autospot is on anyway there's not even much to cheating with weapon sounds, sv_pure should really stay out of sounds imo. :mad: I heared of tons of wallhackers, but never of a "soundhacker"
Hints from sound are only so valuable. Oh boy an APC is coming. Uh what am I going to do differently. Oh, two seconds, now I see it. Hm. Knowing the APC came around sure stopped it in its tracks. Advantages from sounds like that are negligible in a game at the scale of Empires. When combat generally occurs at a level greater than CS, sounds don't really give much benefit. And if you are in infantry combat situations, the weapons already have distinct sounds. Also, hat's stopping implementation of these much needed fixes, like blast shields and rollbars?
Sounds have given me a huge advantage over the last few years, and I won't accept any crap about them not helping you, because they do, a lot. Replacing various vehicle sounds with music might have been funny, but the sounds were louder, and you got a much longer distance warning, or at least better differentiation. They helped, end of. But I'd love blast shield and rollbar fixes. Hopefully it'll get done at some point now we're finally starting to get new models ingame. We just got the first new model (ok, only a redone BE ML) for literally over 3 years.
