Does anyone else find revive a whole ton more useful now? I find that I'm picking up that skill as the first one as oppose to Repair Upgrade as my first skill, irregardless of the map. This is mainly because: -On huge games with lots of ppl, tickets run down fast. By reviving you stop your teams tickets from dwindling -On small games with a few ppl, having a little more people defending can make a huge difference. If your revive gets ppl back to the front lines fast, you can easily steamroll the other team that doesn't. On some games now, I find that the ticket count can quickly reach to 100 versus 0 by just having two revive engineers in every squad.
I mostly get revive, probably because i get a shitload of points for using it correctly, use your team as meatbags and revive them when they drop. I also find it more useful to revive people rather than construct buildings.
I'd say it depends on the number of people and the map. On a big map where there's someplace far away where you need to rush, speed. If there are very few people, repair upgrade, because in general getting those first buildings up first can make a huge difference. This is especially true on maps where both teams are likely to rush the same place and drop raxes at the same time -- if you can get your rax finished first, who cares about reviving (at least in those first frantic minutes -- you can make up the tickets later if you capture the key areas.) If there's a lot of other engineers and nowhere to rush, though, then sure, take revive so you can bring your other engineers (or the people covering you or whatever) back. Of course, the fact that revive lets you earn points so quickly if you use it a lot is probably another factor...
i use revive so i will get points enough to take repair upg or turret upg afterwards soon unless i am expected to build a refinery far away, then i take speed upgrade, since its often faster to run over there with speed and then build without repair upgrade then it is to get there slower and build a little faster
Repair upgrade always. The first order of business on any map is to rush forward and build a barracks. You simply can't do that before the enemy reaches you with just revive.
Speed upgrade usually isn't worth it. You might get there 5 seconds faster but it takes you 20 longer just to build the thing
The whole point is that you are suppose to be with your squad, having atleast another engineer with speed, thus building it faster. Then change to revive or repair
you know, everyone here knows what he meant, as long as I can understand what he's saying who gives a fuck how he says it.
If you can organise a squad to take 2 with repair, 2 with revive and 1 with rifle/anti-inf gren at the start I take revive, it's a real godsend because of the 400res rax, you usually wind up pinned behind a wall for 2 minutes before you get a rax.
i used to take repair back in the 2.0-2.11 but after that i started to use rev because hardly anybody uses it at start which is damn frustrating.
As rifleman I choose always speed upgrade as starting skill cause beeing able to be first at a chokepoint and bring yourself into position bevor the enemy arrives is worth the lack of accuracy upgrade.
