I was more wondering what specific type of spamming. lone engi vs rax, Many engis vs Defended rax, Rofles vs Rofles, stickys vs comm, Etc...
I fail to see the problem. Engineers are already quite capable of ninjaing due to the recharging calculator/iPod
Well all forms of spam are a bit silly. The only kind I really like is when a whole group of players of all classes push up to an enemy rax and nadespam it to death, and with the modifications in my post you could still do that, although it would be more 'rush the last few feet with engies and sticky seismic it to death'. It'd remove most of the other kinds of spam.
i believe this idea is quite interesting as long as it is obvious at all times when you are gonna get your next grenade
I disagree. Some kind of limiter is necessary, but spawning grenades isn't the way to go. Nor is forbidding people to load from ammo boxes either. At least, at the moment. Grenade throws are very unpredictable, and you can easily go short or overthrow considerably. In addition, it takes more than one grenade to take down a turret. Forcing players to throw only one grenade severely limits the effectiveness of Engineers against turrets.
This is impossible to implement without a ton of balancing, testing and more balancing of everything that is affected by multiple grenades (buildings, turrets, walls (which can now be seismic-ed), map choke points), and I'm not even talking about how desirable this is, put it on the bottom of the maybe to-do list.
It'd increase the need for grens...I suppose. Either way, it's not a teribly bad idea; it just needs some refining.
Depends. Against most buildings that aren't turrets, it's fine, for obvious reasons. Against an enemy barracks it's devastating. If an enemy engineer killspawns, you can't out-calculate him. (Ed. Note: Did you seriously just write that?) He'll spawn with a full calculator, and if you kill him he'll respawn with another. There's no way you can beat him. With nade spam, you do more damage than he can repair, which forces him to go on the offensive, eventually. Likewise applies to multiple engineers attacking a barracks. Grenadiers don't have the same damage output... They could eventually run the engineer out of charge, but only if they have an ammo crate, and the engineer could just killspawn for a full charge if the situation demands it. Your only recourse for an offensive advantage then would be tanks (or surprise missile turret farms).
Last I checked, vehicles don't detonate mines until someone gets in them or they're bumped into. Since the commander in overview mode doesn't count as being in the vehicle, you could place a full 8-pack if nobody was looking and there would be no warning. That was the entire basis for ninjaing command vehicles before 2.23.
