So I'm feeling rather nostalgic and I've decided to make a thread and sees who remembers, because we should never forget the past.

So what mods did you play in the years of yore, that have since fallen by the wayside?

Me? I played Science and Industry, brilliant fun, but sadly dead. Rocket Crowbar and Snark Wars, crazy awesome and yet unfortunately gone... And FireArms, a realism jewel, now dusty and deserted.

So sad to see such interesting mods die

the specialists was fun on Hl1, especially because it was around that time that the Matrix was really popular

also, I think firearms was getting remade

there was also this awesome mod for battlefield 1942 that let you build buildings and command guys and stuff... a pity that never took off

Iron Grip: The Opression. This was one of the most brilliant mods of its kind. It was also similar to empires. Too bad it had to die. it was great fun.

    :(

Oh, the glory days of Sourceforts, when HL2 mods were no more than HL2:DM with a new twist. I loved those days.

I think Source Forts has truly died at this point, though I may be wrong. It seems to definitely be on the way out.
Same with Eternal Silence, I've only ever seen 1 server up with a max of 14 people

Plan of Attack. The first Total Conversion for HL2. Was a fun mod and had some fresh ideas. Don't remember why it died, i think they never solved lag and hit registration problems.

    Plan of Attack and Firearms.
The developers left the game quite early. Fans fixed the lag problems that apparently was bound to the helmets, but after that close to no progress was made to the game and it slowly died over the years. I really liked the game.

    Mods?

How's about games? Kinda off topic but,....Zork, Wizadry, Soft Porn, Star Trek. All Dos games. Not! MS Dos. DOS. When 64kb of system ram, 8.5" Floppies were the norm, and a 12mhz processor was BLAZING!!!!! fast!
    Sorry, that's nostalgic for me.

Sourceforts is only about grenade exploits and rocketjumping now, its pretty fail.

Hostile Intent was great, but had a smaller community than empires and died when they announced the source remake was being started, which was weird. Its still being made.
