I noticing more and more people here are having Krenzo's blimb quote in their sigs. This is a sign Krenzo - activate teh hindenburg for 1.08RC12!
What you need is: -models -sounds -materials -code -extensive testing -large maps -very little lag -lots of players In order to create one fully working blimb, all the other features would need to be finished first, or it'll take forever for those things to be put in. Even then, it'd take months of work to complete even just one working blimb.
is it just server cpu usage causing lag then or are there any other bottleneck things about? I approve of the comparative size of this download :0)
You don't need large maps for a "vehicle" that should only move at a slow rate of speed. I'd see the blimp more as a slow-moving watch tower: scouts spot'n'snipe and the rest a high altitude spawn point. You could add a feature to raise/lower the blimp to drop off/pick up players, again this could/should be nerfed somewhat
Why don't some people in the community start a mod for Empires with blimps. Empires:The Dawn of the Flying Whale mod
On another note, if lag is reduced in this (d/l ing now) then I will be a happy person. (was tempted to say chappy could couldn't bring myself to)
I think Krenzo simply should re-write Empires as a "gametype" for Garry's mod; all you then need is an array of NF and BE looking parts and the players can then wiremod up all the turrets, arty, landmines... of course it will take an 8v8 server full of noobs 14 hours to produce, test and deploy said contraptions and a further 5 hours if the map is emp_money. This idea is a big wobbly bag full of creamy win.
Will I need to dl rc8, rc9, rc10 and finally rc11, or can I just download RC11 and it will work? (I got RC7 )
