There was a version of Empires who used Krenzo's neat little help pop-ups from Smashball. You know, when you entered the VF you got a nice little text explaining what it was and how to build a tank. But this isn't there anymore and I wonder why. Empires needs every little thing to make it more accesible.
wasn't there an option to disable that and MOST people enabled that because it was fucking annoying as hell to them? its like right next to enable spray isn't it? edit: So I just looked... there is a distinct blank space where it used to be.
Add it back in, enable it by default, add another message that pops up after a certain time in a game, telling you where to disable those hints.
Thats the point, people who are new have it enabled and after a while they get annoying and people disable them. the fact that most people only do a tutorial once and therefore tutorials are not worth the effort to make is just as ludicrous.
That's fine though, they are only to show basic hints on how empires works, there isn't a reason to keep them around once a player knows it. This isn't for vets or people playing after a few hours, its for people completely new to the game and don't know how anything works. If they can't remember stuff and ask questions on things that they should already know by playing the tutorial map(which is still broke) or after disabling the pop ups, well that's on them. You can't force people to learn after all.
"Leaked memory like a motherfucker" according to MOOtant. We'll have something like it for the new GUI.
