Calling all Commanders

For this PUG I want to do something about the commander problem we had last time. What I need is 4 dedicated Commanders. Commanders will be paired off and then alternate with the other pair. To make things a bit fair every time they they command a new round they also switch sides. Meaning if commander A did NF the first round, they would command BE the next round they command.

By alternating commanders they will have a chance to play the infantry game too, and take a small break from the stressful job of commanding. I will point out that if there is someone on the team that really wants to command, they can, but you will need the ok from the dedicated commander and the rest of the team to vote for you.

So when you sign up say you would like to be commander.

About maps

Maps will be mostly stock, as in what comes from the steam download. We can play custom maps, but I need to mention two things. First I need a download link so people can download them ahead of time. And we probably won't be playing them until the tail end of the PUG(expect around 20ish players if we do a custom map.) Reason being is I don't want to piss off too many people if they have to sit through the download.

Maps aren't set in stone. If you want me to change them or add on a map or whatever tell me. Just keep the above in mind.

Currently this is the maps we will be playing.

Streetsoffire: Meant to actually play this last time, but stuff happened. Good for any player count.
Arid: I want to play one really large map per pug, second map is best for that. Edit: if player count is less than 32 I'm going to change this to cyclopean.
Duststorm: A good classic. Fun for all ages.

About Server

I would like to do this on Epic's server. I expect more euro's will be playing around this time, so it makes sense to play on epic. Considering it is a public game we don't need to put on a password or create a fresh server, in my opinion.

First pair will be: Misfire(BE) vs Freaknovich(NF)
Second pair will be: Bigteef(NF) vs Paradox(BE)

Reserve list will be: Lazybum, then Spike.

Remember, commanders will switch factions after everytime they command.

 

Double posting to clarify a few things. Wanted to do this earlier but put it on hold because trickster mentioned releasing new scripts. Don't know when they will actually get released though so decided to just put this message out. But yeah that is why next pug is the 8th and not the 1st like I wanted originally.

I will act like a Sub dedicated commander, meaning if one of them doesn't show up I'll take their place. So we don't have to worry too much about 1 of them not showing.

I put this a bit earlier because I heard from a few people that they work late so they couldn't make it to the last one. This is I feel the earliest I can push it while still allowing all of the west coast us to participate too.

I'll ask Vicki to put nuclear after that PUG happens I think. I hope it doesn't crash servers anymore.

If A-z-K or Vicki or someone that has access to the PUG server files will be present, I can send whichever version I end up with to get uploaded beforehand. But be warned, last time it kept crashing the server - if this is still a thing, it might kill the hype.

 

Arid comes with install, so there will be no wait time like with tropico. I agree about the custom maps thing, that is why if we do one it will be at the end of it. Personally I like the idea of wrapping things up with nuclear, it was made for lower player counts. It isn't certain if it still crashes the server though, so hopefully we can test that out sometime next week.

Why is arid so shit? It looks like a decent map, like a version of duststorm with stuff everywhere. If you can find two people to agree that it is shit I'll change it to isle, for the mean time. I don't like the idea of changing things just because 1 person says nay. Other people might really like the map.(see rainbowroad)

On a side note if any of you have a decent commander on your friends list could you ask them if they want to act like a dedicated commander for the pug? Remember it will alternate so they don't have to command every round.

 

I guess I can send files to ask sooner, but it'll still need to get tested on site.
