What does this profession mean? Programer

Is this person implying he or she is a pro gamer? or a programmer? or are there things like gramers where you can state your proficiency or profession in?

It would probably be a better description to call them "paid gamers". Its more informative and doesnt confuse people as much. Its propably used because alot of those have inflated egos and you know they like them tacticool names. I still find it hilarious to name some of the whinier cunts who throw shit at their opponents "professional" in any way.

oddly enough profession (where pro comes from) implies paid. actually the term is wrongly used by elitist pricks and not for those who get paid for gaming - skill aside.

but i assume blizzErd is after a common typo :|ove:

And *I* find it funny how some people think esports is a silly term.

Advertizers realized there is money to be made by sponsoring video game tournaments.

Pro-gamer came from them copying pro-athletes.
Pro means professional in abbreviation terms.

MLG pretty much created the term, and threw money at it.

I personally can't wait for fighting games to become a thing on television.

Think football (soccer), there are small matches here and there and they add up to the finals.

Each team is owned by a company, just like sport teams but not international teams.
Companies pay for expenses and the team wins them money, and advertizes pay money for teams to wear their badges.

Doesn't matter, there is enough interest in people playing video games and people watching them to play.
Now add a competitive atmosphere then you got all the drama, politics, and gossip.

If you ever took dota seriously, you would see why people loose their shit over a game of assfaggots.

And then video games are ruined forever, just like sports, the end.

Why you say that, I still enjoy playing sports, see no reason to not enjoy games either.

Note that Blizzerd said "Programer", not "progamer". It's mos likely just a typo of "Programmer".

    Ok so,
    • Progamer = Someone who plays computer games professionally for money.
    • Programmer = Someone who writes computer programs.
    • Programer = Stupid mispelling that isn't even a word. (Edit: This is apparently how Americans spell 'programmer')
