This would be so damn useful to restrict Arty. Even better would be to set a limit on the amount of that kind of chassis. For example limit Arty chassis to 3 on field at any moment.
I've been reading that you guys are trying to redo the GUI first. I figured it was already suggested but I could not find it with a search. ---- @All other suggestions, four words from software engineering: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KISS_principle The ability to lock different weapons/armors/engines, restrict a certain amount of vehicles per person, and restrict a certain amount of vehicles per chassis is too complex. What happens when the commander restricts a weapon and forgets to unrestrict it? It could take the commander a few seconds and by then the opportunity to spawn a vehicle has passed. The same goes for the other suggestions. The commander should be able to micromanage when necessary but should not have to excessively micromanage. What it comes down to is trusting your team and the admins on the server that they will spawn the right tanks and griefers will be banned.
PatPeter can you stop deliberately using larger text, it's fucking annoying. Also, no, it's not too complex, because it's an optional usage thing, only experienced commanders need to use it, the rest can simply ignore it.
I would hope it turns out that way, we dont need noobs being even more of a hindrance to the team. This system works for all vehicles right?
@PatPeter: I agree with the sentiment but no way duder - it would be as easy to understand as the current ability to restrict. Also Restricting the use of certain types of research is still simpler than having to micro by building tanks for people (Hell naw, I ain't updating my vehicle customisation every time research completes). Like Trickster says - its all opt in stuff.
Fine, I'll use CTRL+MWHEEL. Attached image is relevant. If none are too complex, which of the four would the devs do, or rather do first? Restrict chassis (plural). Restrict weapons/armor/engine. Restrict to X number of chassis per team. Restrict to X number of vehicles per person. I think the first and third are easiest to implement, I've stated my opinion on the second, and the fourth seems like WAY too much micromanaging, especially when you have 20 people on your team. It would also have to do one of these: http://forums.empiresmod.com/showthread.php?t=14332 http://forums.empiresmod.com/showthread.php?t=15808 http://forums.empiresmod.com/showthread.php?t=15807
If the text is that small at what you believe to be default size, then you're wrong, because it isn't default size. Also, the plan was to allow commanders limit the number of each chassis allowed, and allow him to restrict engines and armours, but we were undecided on weapons, given that sometimes you need to force your team to use the right tools, but other times it might stifle customisation too much.
Pics or it doesn't exist? That's more to the point of what I meant when I said too complex. Weapons is over-doing it. If it's too much for the devs to do by next release, I say start small with just restrictions by chassis and build up to implementing restrictions by number and restrictions by engines and armor.
Because commanders can't already shape weapon choices through research and VF locking... Have you ever played a pub (read: few clanners) game under FN? When he rushes, you don't get to "customize" your vehicle. You use the vehicle he wants you to use. And you know what? He's the most effective pub com I know (though the funnest is still Hobbes ove. The only things that differentiate Empires is its stellar vehicle combat and the commander/player relationship. Please don't stifle your selling points.
Also, your edited post above is tiny now. Just don't fucking dick about with the size. Default is fine if you don't have an epileptic fit whilst holding ctrl and your mousewheel.
+1 to ImSpartacus. I fixed it when you asked. For some reason your font is the same as 11-point Times New Roman while mine is 9. Since I save tabs I've had Empires forums set to zoom+1 from whence you asked me to stop. I feel left out , jk. Anime Avatar: What I use on Steam, I'm not an anime otaku nor weeaboo. Code Geass is merely my favorite television series. I never claimed to speak German; I only stated that it is the greatest language ever. I'm not subliminally trolling when I speak of German, no, not at all. I stopped using "font-size:2;" when Trickster asked; I was using it because I hated what I thought was the default font on the forums.
I used comic sans on MSN messenger for years. I look back in utter disgust at myself. I was a horrible, horrible person.
+1... +1 * 99 +1. Do other fonts work on this forum because I tried switching between them and my post stayed the exact same?
The following fonts are selectable but, look 80% the same. Arial Arial Black Arial Narrow Book Antiqua Century Gothic Comic Sans MS Courier New Fixedsys Franklin Gothic Med Garamond Georgia Impact Lucida Console Lucida Sans Unicode Microsoft Sans Serif Palatino Linotype System Tohoma Times New Roman Trebuchet MS Verdana You might be able to get more in here through other means but, ehh
They look EXACTLY the same to me. Also when I quoted your link it showed every font tag at the bottom of your post, would that be interrupting it?
