Of course, for that we must assume that smoke nades are only used in District.

(This stating-the-obvious thing is harder than it looks.)

people have long ago switched out their smoke effect for something easily see though, I heard a couple people using a bubbles outline with alpha channel instead of smoke, so they could tell there was smoke there but still see through it. Lame but like Mootant says steamworks would solve this problem.

Bubbles? I like bubbles. Can I has bubbles?

....Now I'm thinking about how difficult it would be to turn the smoke grenade into a cloud of soap suds.

    lol bubbles? yay?

Speaking of smoke nades... they are still fail. ppl can see into them just fine... unless you are IN the smoke then you can't see anything.

Steamworks and sv_pure are two different things.

It does, but servers require 10 minutes to boot and stuff. Which sucks.

Also, G4TC main, probably viper and Nachos all won't use sv_pure. It's sv_pure bullshit. If people want to hax stuff, sure, but sv_pure is for clan games. No-one cares outside of that.

Your server your choice, but I do care if someone has tranlucent walls.

Anyone who does that should be punched in the crouch by an angry midget.

Honestly a friend of mine and I tried the translucent walls. I removed it shortly after. It's not so much of an advantage that it outweighs the annoyance of having translucent buildings and walls, which looks kind of silly.

Honestly, the ONLY particle effect that actually affects my ability to play would be the nuke particles.... Which I personally think look like shit.

Ok from a distance sure, but closer to the blast (where I am 90% of the time) all I see is a sea of pixels.

Nuke needs less fireball, more mushroom cloud!

true the initial fire ball on a nuke explosion is fast. The effect used in game also looks like an air burst nuke, when most of the hit missiles go off near the ground. pictures like this:

are hard to get because the actual fire part has used up most of it's oxygen in a split second.

as far as I know empty is trying to replicate the fat man nuke explosion from fallout 3 as a more appropriate nuke effect.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-XJnjnYnEI vid for those who haven't played fallout 3
