my new idea for walls basically a bunker, gate, new wall, tower per say and a ramp see thread here http://forums.empiresmod.com/showthread.php?p=199190#post199190
Although its a job well done, I dont think it will fit empires gameplay, since it will encourage turtling. I also think it occupies to much space for a engineer deployable.
it isnt engineer deployable, and whats so bad about some turtleing defences, could look badass and give us some nice eyecandy that empires lacks
if it becomes droppabable, this should be a commander drop only (imagine the grievage possabilities if not) something like a "big" wall... interesting food for the mind...
something like those gate-battlements from hl2? thats a good idea imo , gives the defenders some edge, but you can still get flanked and killed if team lacks teamwork.
If you paint directly on top of that image and import it back into the program as a UV map then whatever you paint on the image will show up on your model. The wireframe lines are to show you where to paint corresponding with your model. It is easier to do this if you use a program such as paint.NET that handles layers, so you can fade the lines in and out to keep you right when you are painting.
Yeah but if they are models they are cheaper to render. The engine handles them better than complicated brush based entities so its better to use them for map buildables. You can also use LOD to make them render better at a distance or fade out entirely, which is impossible with brush based geometry.
