    Having flying pieces of flaming debris that's trailed by those sprites when a vehicle is destroyed would look incredible.

    meaning that the debris wouldn't have collision models? :'(

    It really can't create too much lag..

    make it client side and visual only (as in you can see it, but it will only collide with the map)

    that's what i think :P

    plus, if there's lag, then it'll be like ultra cool slowmotion as you watch that turret spin into you.

    Anyone here do COD2 on the PC? Ever notice how you can turn smoke off basically? It defeats the purpose of smoke. Smoke should inhibit your senses and your ability to function. Allow for the smoke to be turned down, not off. Else it will be as bad as HDR - offering no real advantage other than the wow effect.
