I'm trying to get into mapping , this is my first time ever mapping. So I'm looking for persons I could contact when I need some help. an example of my problem would be : right now I'm trying to make a door using ICA textures but I can't find how , and the tutorial on interlopers do not tell how to make doors that open like those.
I was just about to post something like this, but I wanted some general tips on map editing and maybe some advanced, I am thinking of making a map for emp and this is my first time mapping for any source game. Also, I was looking for things like third party editors, like I heard that Varbles used something called TerraGen(?) Any thing would be nice
http://forums.empiresmod.com/showthread.php?t=6332 If you want to learn to make doors and do simple but fancy things like that, what I did was download prefabs and look at how they work, then recreate the prefab how I wanted to and test if it works. If you look through the entity list, both point and brush entities, look at some of the ones that seem like what you want or look interesting. Learn how to use a couple of these, and then the rest will come easy. The help button on the property screen is sometimes very helpful if you want to know what it is an entity can and can't do. Don't turn smartedit off unless you can tell what you're doing, either.
