sort of like the revive/ammo/heal icon above peoples' heads, this would appear to people in vehicles, and even more on APCs.

maybe to encourage picking up teammates, give one point per life (passenger) who uses the NEED TRANSPORT command (F-A-S) to the driver when they get in the vehicle.

Other than the major point farming, it could be pretty good.

Is something wrong with simply shooting at the friendly vehicle while micspamming?

they also say you should not stay infront of one of them
cause they shot at anything if it moves, friend or foe.

I would avoid awarding a point. It's tempting, but it would lead to too much point-farming... even with a timer to prevent absurd levels of abuse, it's still basically a free point for something that can easily be abused to provide points without really doing anything meaningful.

Aside from that, this seems like a good idea to me.

Yeah, but generally, to do it with revives, you usually have to at least be near the frontline getting shot at. I guess you could do it with a turret, but that's still out and near the enemy, so there's some risk and at least some chance you're helping your team.

With this, you could grab a free point in your own base for doing absolutely nothing. In fact, imagine the typical APC rush, or just rolling out a tank -- I roll out a vehicle, everyone (who is standing nearby and was about to get in anyway) does a vehicle request, bam, I get a ton of points for doing absolutely nothing.

(You could give one point for every two people or whatever, but it's probably not going to happen often enough legitimately for that to stack up.)

well, do you know anybody who uses the request for pickup radio command? or anybody who loads up an entire APC?

maybe perhaps they have to get like full ammo or something from the APC. like, stay in the APC for that duration.

He meant some guy type !kill, or kill into the console, or simply binding the suicide key and doing it over and over again.

I just think that I'm driving without a license and they are roadraging at me as pedestrians.

Srsly though, it would stop vehicle spam on larger maps. You would need to introduce a system where a point is not rewarded if, say, the vehicle just came out of the vehicle factory, because then people will just be waiting to get in, or that it has to be a certain distance away from home base.

    I bound a suicide key.

I've revived people and had them yell at me because they were trying to change their class, or any other horrific noob response. Haven't explicitly tested it in 2.24d though.

you would only be able to give one point per spawn.

Great idea! If points were to be given, it should be something similar to a scout sabotaging buildings, i.e. transporting 3 people (who've requested for pickup) gives you 1 point.

    /me raises hand

anyway, if it shows an indicator above your head it doesnt hurt to use it - well it actually might get you a ride, so why not?

    good thinking ...

    something i want to add:
make the "requesting transport" icon fade after like 30seconds ... there is no use to leave it longer since you probably moved to some location where you dont need it anymore anyway ...

Er for revives, I thought you don't earn points for suicides. You can revive...you just don't earn a point.

    Also, good idea...I think.
