Music overhaul by Werihukka (demo)

Long time ago we had a topic here about having more/different music in
Empires, so I made some music and some of you liked it so here's a demo of
what I've done so far. There are stuff that need work and stuff that need
removing and stuff that needs fixing, but I know that already, so I'll just leave
this here.

I didn't change the game startup music, because it's good as it is.

This replaces the current breakout, winning and losing music and adds some more music as well.

I've heard a fair bit of overhauled empires music over the last few years, and most of it is pretty good. But never as good/good enough to replace the current stuff.

But fuck me these are awesome. Honestly, all the Intro/Theme tunes are awesome. The Lose/victory themes all seem a little too dramatic with the slow drum roll and guitars etc. But those first ones, oh god. I want them for a publicity video of Empires. So bad.

Btw, default end time for a round is 20s, so try to make them that long.

As I said. Everything is "work in progress". And I'd like to make more, but if it's just custom content, then I see no point spending much more time with it.

Ah yes, I was looking into level loading music and I've already downloaded some of yours. Are these all yours (or non-copyrighted)?

 

I still think some merging of the "breakout" ones to make it 2-3 mins, so it can be used for a publicity video, would be fucking awesome.

Get "Winners write the history" and cut it up as you like

 

Everything there is composed, arranged, played and engineered by me.

@Brutos.. rotation would be a lot better than randomizing. I just copied some script I found from the forums.

Dude, if you made an album, with full and serious songs, similar to your victory tunes, i'd buy it.

Well no, it's the modern times. I'd download it, and pay to see you live on a festival.

And yeah, the breakout ones would fit empires pretty well.
Some of them give me that old Red Alert feeling btw.

I can give permissions to use it in different occasions though and this is a demo for Empires gameplay purposes only. Of course you can still listen to it and so on, but I hope you respect it atleast so much that you won't use it to your own non personal purposes without written permission from me.

 

If you want to make a publicity video for Empires, just cut those clips as you like to your video, send the video with the audio to me and I can cut and slice the music to the video from the original multitrack. Atleast that's how they work in the audio post-production world for movies.

I love these pieces. How..did you even do them?

 

Years of self learning basics of music and audio.. then going to a school which teaches everything music and audio related.

Most of it is programmed with midi and played with a midi keyboard using all kinds of sample libraries and virtual instruments. Hardest part is the composing, though. It takes its time.

Can you do..voices?

 

I can record voices, but I'm not a good voice actor with a non-native language. I pronounce English like a Finnish rally drivers. Not good.

Also I can do sound effects.. atleast some. Not a lot of experience about sfx but I have tried doing explosions and such with some success.
