KM Server: Maps Update

    You mean the game where BE did the same? And we (NF) used scouts + engineers to kill your engineers? :rolleyes: :D

    Have someone done that again? Then they are just lame.

    Update on the Maps:
    - Escort beta 3 is on there
    - Midbridge is off as everyone just sits in spec or leaves
    - Sinking is off until the bug is fixed

    I was on their yesterday and it was playing ESCORT 2.0 and when i realised I almost passed out. :(

    How come :confused:

    We have both on the server, it's been some argument between various people as to which is better (which wasn't helped when MOOtant decided to grief his own team [as they weren't doing what he wanted] and got banned...).

    AFAIK Beta 3 is the default one, but sadistic admins such as myself enjoy the odd artie whore now and again.

    Why is the old emp_escort the server rotation default? It sucks ridiculously hard compared to beta 3.

    Suggestion: consider building human piramides to get to places you shouldn't be able to get to be an exploit

    Actually up untill this point that's exactly what i would like to see happen.
    Mappers have to alter their maps immensly just because stupid little whores keep searching for ways to exploit. It's as if they think losing in a game makes them die in real life, so they do everything in their power to find exploits to cheat their way to victory.

    I'm just used to a much higher level of maturity from the people around me, like sportmanslike behavior and fair play. In empires it's come so far that people are justifying childish behavior, like "If it's possible we do it".

    Try shooting your friend in the head with a gun and blame it on the weapons manufacturer because they were not smart enough to make the weapon reckognize threats, so the owner of the gun doesn't have to think about what's good and bad to do.

    It's just sad to see an (almost) entire BE team moan and have people leaving when NF players get upon area's they weren't meant to get in Escort, or having people go up the hills in cyclopean above the enemy base to take it down with no risk for themselves. I had 3 such games on the KM server out of 3 games i played that time. I realised how stupid the mod must seem to players who had their first experience during one of those games. Someone who doesn't know that with mature players empires can actually be fun will have already uninstalled the mod because it's not professional enough, but just about messing around with guns and exploiting.

    I can't imagine me owning a server and having games ruined because i consider cheating to be fair. I don't understand why most servers allow it.

    Silk: We need a list of those exploits, I hope our mappers will be more than happy to fix them. Just send it to me (do not post them on forums for kids to read).

    Immensely? Hell no. A fix for this stuff is just a trigger_hurt.
    Exploiters may or may not be fun, but mappers are not crying and thinking how exploiters would do bad on there maps.

    9 mine APCs up high.
    Jump on people/turrets.
    Thats the two main things you can do to break a map.

    Please take the old escort off the server and just use b3. Tonights game was pretty well griefed, and made a lot of people leave. For a map that runs so long compared to other maps it really aint a lot of fun for either team.

    Funnily enough I think we did that late last night anyway, tell me if the old escort is still floating around.

    Old escort is still in the rotation, unfortunately. And please reconsider the removal of midbridge, many people do like this map.

    Ah so it is, it will be gone when Frog gets round to it.

    On Midbridge it is true, many people do like that map. However 'many' is not enough for the server not to empty when it comes up.

    Try preventing NF players from climbing onto the BE paths in escort. There's no limit to human piramides, it can go as high as you want. You also can't use playerclip brushes because the BE players have to be able to jump down. It just can't be prevented

    Also vehicles, especially jeeps with fast engines, can get everywhere. Once they've picked up some speed you can go anywhere you want with them, including the hills above the bases in cyclopean. Trigger hurts or vehicle clip + player clip is the only solution, but when you do that all players keep complaining about stopping or dying in mid air (they don't listen when you say they shouldn't have been there in the first place). To make it so that they can't complain, you then have no choice but to change the map itself. Instead of smooth and realistic terrain you'll have to put complete vertical cliffs like those in canyon and crossroads so vehicles ram the cliffs and lose their momentum.

    Just one little server rule warning people to play fair or get kicked would solve each and every possible exploit someone will ever come up with, and make for good games even between releasing bug fixes. No more waiting a year for a map update in the latest release, fixing a problem and adding new ones, but just playing on a server where people play fair and don't justify exploiting by saying "if it's possible to do, it's still not right but who cares i'll just blame the mod".

    First paragraph. Use the trigger_hurt that is used in the vehicle training map. Solved there.

    Second paragraph. Invisible walls. You don't need to change the terrain itself to make it uber vertical.

    I usually don't play on KM since I get terrible ping and even worse registry. I was on their today though. Is it always the most absurdly obnoxious server for empires, or was I just terribly unlucky by choosing that specific instance in time to be playing on it? Half(actually about 4/5) my team was mic spamming and I couldn't mute any of them. I couldn't initiate a votekick or complain to an admin. --And this was probably just my connection with the server and not the server its self, but I was getting loads of packet lose.

    Verdict?

    I think the serverd emptyied on mid bridge because your sever would'n't upload it to the people who didn't have it. And I spen a hour trying to find a download for the version you use but to no avail.

    Plz upload... Think of the children...
