OK folks, enough of you have been moaning about the lack of new maps on KM, so i'm getting off my ass and compiling the list of new maps! First thing to note is that i'm looking for maps that are going to be around and popular for some time, we're not going to host every map that only a few people like, as it's a great way of pissing away bandwidth on our download server. Secondly i'm not looking to add too many new maps to the default cycle. I want to add them to the server, test them a few times, get some reactions then maybe add them to the cycle. So, the maps, asked a few people and the following seem like the prime contenders: emp_sinking_mkii DL Link emp_arid_rc2 DL Link emp_smokies_rc1 DL Link emp_thetrenchesb2 DL Link emp_frost_rc1.bsp DL Link You may notice the first issue is that I can't find most of them on the net or the Empire wiki.... So, suggestions for new maps, support/criticism for those and download links all welcome! Cheers Fagballs
The bottom four are all nice maps, and have been heavily tested on the training server. You can get a hold of them pretty easily since everyone who has played on the training server has them. Finding webhosting for the files shouldn't be too hard either. Also, there is a map with the word 'shadow' in it, and I would like to suggest that map. It gets mixed reviews, but it provides some variety in game play since strategies for that map are different than most.
Be sure about frost though. I never managed to get the shadows right, so the quality may be insufficient for a server like KM (which is one of my favourite servers). There's a chance arid will become an official map. To reach that goal i'm working on it whenever i have time. Even if it doesn't become an official map i will release the improved version. Shouldn't be more then 2 weeks max.
Yeah sadly not had time to go through a map cycle of the training server recently. I'm hoping people would be kind enough to dump them on a file upload service for me. The web server in our case is a machine that lives purely to provide fast HTTP downloads of maps for KM servers, it's a nice quick host so people don't get bored waiting for new maps. The shadow map rings a bell... Silk: Frost seems to get good reviews from people, not managed to get a copy yet though
The Trence map is horrable. No one is going to like that. About Frost, that map looks nice but it is one huge standstill. I would not add the map but I see how others like it. Also, where is Shadows? Did Shadows fail the test? The new RC is much better than that old RC3 you guys used.

Trenches has a bug in which its easy to get under map, not saying where but can the maker of teh map pm me and ill screenshot the problem.
if you updating the mapy cycle, remove crossroads. It empties out servers, so you'll be doing yourself a favour
what about emp_de_dust2 ? Have escort beta, i wanna see waht its like. And ihaven't played on any of the custom maps listed above :D
I dunno, times i've been on people seem to plough on through. Got that as well, although MOOtant, is this the last version of this map for a while or is it going to be updated often? Silk: Downloaded arid and frost, both seem to be mostly 'texture missing' pink and black checkerbox, you mentioned using Empires textures in another thread, could that be the issue? Cheers Fagballs
I checked the rar (maybe it was an older version) but it seems that all materials are in the materials folder. Everything should work.
