I thought I have seen something on this before, even when I searched I found nothing on it. I have been toying with the idea of a killcamera for the past while, when one of my friends gave me the idea. So I thought that we could at least discuss a killcamera or something along these lines. My opinion on empires right now, It's a little bland when you die with the "griefernub has killed you with an smg_2 with 100 health left" and then you can rotate your camera around and look were he shot you from. My idea for the killcamera, is that when you die your camera will be set above your dead body, looking down at about 1000-2000U depending on the maps skybox. You can't communicate with other dead players, or alive players, or use voice to communicate to help prevent ghosting. Also you can't move your camera while dead. It is fixed on were you died overlooking the battlefield. It could also be setup so that when you die from a vehicle, your camera gets fixed on the vehicle and looks at wherever it moves, from a point in the sky. Scouts would be immune to killcam when they kill someone on foot. It could also be setup that you can only see what killed you, not buildings or other players. /discuss
Wouldn't work as we got Squad Revive and revive in Emp, thus cancelling it. Also.. It's copies from Cod2 :p
nobody cares if it copies or not its a bad idea, what we currently have is better (although it would be nice if the camera stayed with the ragdoll)

I dislike this, because you end up warning your teammates anyway, and those ten secodns can be the end of a match, although it could be okay for if you got killed with the scout silencer, to prevent you instantly yelling out there's a scout and ruining his stealth.
well we do the same thing to scouts now anyways, except we can talk to our teammates when dead. and it could be changed into a cvar and disabled for matches and scrims and such.
This would be completely pointless. The only kind of deathcam that I can think of that would be slightly not useless is a CoD or TF2 style killcam, so you can tell where you got killed from. Having a useful feature from another game is fine, copying so Empires is exactly like another game is what is retarded.
What if, after you die, you can only see friendly structures, vehicles, and infantry? The enemy would be invisible to you. (i.e. don't render any enemy units on their screen if a person is dead) Pros: -Dead people cannot be gaining intel on the enemy by staying dead surrounded by enemies -They can still look around to see if an engi is running up to revive them. -Stops the comm suicide to see what the enemy is doing exploit Cons: -I can't think of any other than extra code if it's possible to support this. Alt: -Black screen? -Death cam, from the eyes of the ragdoll? -can't rotate the camera when dead?
Maybe this should be placed in the sticky? It's how I always looked at it, but I've seen a lot of people misinterpreting it. ...as for this suggestion, I just don't see any advantage to changing the death-view. And most possibilities would be problematic with revive, which sort of becomes strange if you weren't specifically viewing things from your location. What's the gameplay benefit supposed to be here? Just to reduce the seven seconds of boredom when you're dead?
Then I'd just use the clan vent to warn my teammates. Restricting the voicechat is pointless anyways.
