commanding is extremely frustrating when you see your team failing at the simplest tasks. this is when you realize that it profits your team more if you go fight something somewhere ...
Commanding is frustrating, rewarding, exciting, boring, pointless, essential. Depends on the team, the map, the opposition.
I only ever command anymore. Nothing else is interesting IMO. I haven't not commanded in a pub game for over a month now. I have no idea how people can stand playing as infantry and if anyone would like to explain go ahead.
It's not fun being one of the ants. I think of it as pitting your skills against the enemy commanders via the ants. Sure, you have to yell and scream and beg and all but murder your players to get things done, and most of the time I end up being one of the ants myself in between research periods, but to see that enemy commander explode at the end of 90% of the rounds and know that through serious effort and a better utilization of leadership skills than the guy in that smoking wreck makes it all worthwhile. Oh man, just saying that makes me want to go play Empires, but all the servers are empty.
