Well it's more like a spin off, there are are few characters in Puni Puni that are from Excel, you could still enjoy it without watching Excel, oh yeah Puni Puni Poemi is only two episodes, so yeah I would recomend it, but just buy or bum, or whatever Excel Saga because from what I've heard Excel is way up there comedy meter.
One thing I must warn you about FMA is that it has some really depressing moments. Lamune is a cute anime that is great if you want to have some brief glimpses into your childhood. It's short and sweet, around 12 episodes in total. Also try Full Metal Panic Fummofuru (sp?) if you haven't already. I recommend you see something more dramatical rather "cutesy." If you want a good anime that is funny, addicting, and one of a kind, check out Rurouni Kenshin. It's one of the first feudal japan era based samurai series ever made, and yes it's not an old anime as most tend to be. But I recommend you first watch the OVAs entitled "Samurai X: Trust and Betrayal" that way you can see the main character's history. (if you dont like blood and action then skip the ova but you'll miss out on the full experience of the complete series, i.e. explanation of how he arrives to the town and what's up with the scar on his cheek) Then after you see the complete series watch "Samurai X: Reflection" which ends the complete story/series and if you've seen the series in order it will make you shed tears of sadness. I also recommend the following most dramatical animie movies ever made: Perfect Blue Category: Psychological Thriller Jin Roh: The Last Wolf Brigade Category: Sci-Fi/Drama Grave of The Fireflies Category: Drama "..it's a tear jerker!"

Mezzo Forte? Lol! Had to do it again, me and my silly hentai behavior. I think I've seen Perfect Blue... wait no, that was Blue Sub #6, which I thought was neat. They also have Grave of Fireflies at the local video rental. While we're on the talk of movies Dee (Might as well say it now): PRINCESS MONONOKE! AKIRA! MUST-SEES! If you don't watch them, you are committing otaku suicide.
The beginning of Rurouni Kenshin pretty good but it get boring in the later eps. It might be easier to make suggestion if you tell us what type of anime you want to watch. For example SciFi, Fantasy, Romance, Sports, Horror, Action, etc. Also there are five versions of techi. You forgot Gpx which is a spin off and Tenchi muyo Ryo-ohki which continues where tenchi muyo left off, although I think there are only 4 eps out right now.

well my personal catagory Neon Genisis: Evangelion (Best Anime of All time, as well as the most confusing and f'd up) Rah-Xephon(exactly like NGE cept diffrent people) Martian Succesor: Nadesico (Parody of NEG and Rah-xep) Princess mononoke FLCL (parody of all anime) Coyboy bebop Outlaw star Desert Punk (a perverse comedy, main charicter has an obsession with boobs) full metal panic i dunno why but may anime fix is more 'adult' like as NG:E and Rah-zephon carry deep seeded moral questions. oh and how could i forget Elfen Lied. a psychotic pink haired girl goes on a killing rampage with her unique power of invisable hands. the First 10 minutes of the anime is nothing but sensless killing, Lots of blood, lots of gore. also it contains a lot of nudity, and again, ethical and moral questions.

erm, wouldn't you rather watch porn with real people in? pictures of anime are weirdly interesting sometimes, but movies generally look artificial. hentai: I've never seen it but the idea sickens me.

1, real porn vrs. animated porn. Real porn: Fake. more-brest-that-woman women doing with freak of nature long memberd guys. Ungodly horrible acting. Ungodly horrible plot line. Most pornography flicks are often seen just to make fun of it. Hentai: Fake (of course its animated. Women rangeing from your near flatchested shy girl in glasses to the big boobed hussy. Decent acting. Decent/above par plot line (considering it is mostly driven by sex). Hentai is actually more intresting that porn even if you don't look at it in the purely sexual nature of it. 2, No one is going to get Mezzo Forte jokes here because that movie is basicly burried from the public. no primary distributers of Anime carry it, and even fewer carry the NC-17 version of it. i have heard of it and seen it online, but like a lot of other animes, (not a good example, but, 'A Wind Named Amnesia') very few will know of it because it has a sex scene in it. and since here, very few people realise that just because it is animated, doesn't mean its just for kids. there are some Adult orinted Anime (as i mentioned) which is either mostly lost on younger kids or is just too wrong for them to see. but america equates cartoon to kids, so that is why we don't openly see R rated Anime movies. the only thing Mezzo you will find is their resently released TV series of the same story line, how ever unlike the movie it isn't as adult like. (not even i have seen mezzo forte although i really want to because of its pumped up action and over the topness)
