How will the lack of fixed wing aircraft be explained?

will the blimps be able to drop buildings anywhere on the battlefield? and i was thinking how about they have HUGE cannons that fire dragons and they have baby dragons and like, they do 10X damage of the VTOL guns? yeah? good ideas? I want to be able to drop the buildings on enemy people and tanks! and enemy buildings! i want my blimps to be able to pick enemy buildings up and steal them! BWHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA!!

no i actually like the zeppelins for BE if they woud be made in a good way
slower, not as agile but with a bit more punch and armor then NF aircrafts

Personnaly I hope they implement more realistic features before blimps. Such as living quarters for every soldier. Every soldier needs a good home away from home. They need to create a swimming pool addon for the barracks for entertainment and in case its christmas (no fighting allowed). Empires turned into a soldier sim

 

I will only allow living quarters if I get get to sack them with my ritghous NF hoards

 

Hell yes! It's not an RTS if you can't burn rape and pillage (in that approximate order).

 

In the living quarters put PCs to play "empires the RTS" on.
As for Blimp-gunships: 3 plasma connons and a sideorder of MGs please.

 

Oooo.. that'd be crazy. Walk up to a big monitor and load up a game of empires then come and find yourself while you're playing empires actually in empires and kill yourself then see if you die.. or something.. neverending universes!! arggg!!

 

Sounds as bizzare as that new game Portal that valve is making... Seen the video? I got so dizzy I felt like puking by the end. Now that will be interesting. :D

Anyway I don't see how blimps would be practical in Empires. In real life the are somewhat practical because they can fly WAY higher than most planes making them hard targets. However in Empires they would be little more than very easy, slow moving targets for grenaders. Well... Perhaps if they had high armor and four engis repairing them constantly. Or if RPGs had limited range. Or if the skybox was twice as high...

 

Or if when they died, they slowing drifted to the ground in a controlable way, like a giant suicide bomb!

I think now planes are alot better then blimps ...

that would hurt... They are alot faster and their agility woud simple kill the blimp >.<

Sam sites could easly blow the blimp up no matter what distance it is on..

And dont aircraft have a higher "Celling" then blimps?

 

Well experimental blimps or atleast air balloons have reached high enough to enter what is considered space. Somewhere around 83 miles high. I saw a video of a skydiver jumping off a balloon from that high. It took him a LONG time to fall all the way down but he can say that he bailed out from space now.

Something tells me we won't be getting blimps at 83 miles high in source but in real life no SAM missile could reach that high an altitude. I think the max SAM missile range is about 80 miles and that's certainly not straight up.
