I tried and tried and tried on saturday and didn't come up with a good setup. Someone help me pretty please? What weapons, engine, and armour should a tank have nowadays?
BE: Bio ML, Dual HE/Ranged, Gas turbine, Compo. NF: Bio ML + Salvo Homing, HE/plasma, gas turbine, compo. or dual Salvo Homing, HE/plasma, gas turbine, compo. <--- If you can't drive for shit, for 95% players. No argument accepted. But first, you need a not retarded comm who knows when to get Ranged and when to get HE.
I really like guided and HE MG on NF since you never need to take the crosshair off the enemy. Same with dual ranged and HE MG for BE.
@Security: Don't you feel like the lock on time for homing is really slow? How do you feel about UML instead, since my accuracy is good enough without the lock on? @Redskull: Oh that's pretty cool, I hadn't considered that. This is a little much for a newbie though, so you probably only get this setup very late in the game, no? Spartacus pls
There's no such thing as decent accuracy with UML if your enemy has at least a little sense about dodging it. Also UML's cycle time is too fast, so no. Put one Bio ML on if you think you have the skill and accuracy.
I'm finding a love for UML over BIO now, especially on NF. BIO on BE is ok as a support weapon for dual ER. On tight maps with lots of infantry or need to arc over enemy buildings I like dual HE. Dual homing is good/bad. nubs will wait for lock on which is bad. Great for taking out bases, if you can get ammo. But I guess the uber heavy weapon now is nukes. Another good/bad since nubs will blow themselves up. I usually get ER before nukes for BE and homing or UML before nukes for NF. Upgraded turrets for a weak team or low resource map after getting UGL and HEMG for good APC's. I usuallu won't go into bio until after heavies. It's not as good as it once was. Gas engine is better than bio engine since bio has been slowed. It doesn't matter if you can move when overheated, if you don't have the speed to get away. I used to love plasma but it's not great, same for rails. Time to push more Reactive, which is going to lead to more Physics Heavies rushing nukes. Although that tactic worked on the better team last night, it doesn't mean it is best. We'll see...
I never understood the difficulty in that one, he for tons of infantry, ranged for everything else(though you can sometimes forgo he if you already grabbed bio ml). The nice thing about bio engine is that it has a max heat capacity of 125 now. Sure it's not as great as some engines, but it can work out nice enough with regen. Also, if you're an engy tank driver capacitive is really worth it now I think, at least on heavy tanks and possibly meds. If you have mad skills being a gren with armor increase and regen also holds promise.
Fission is the best engine on emp_duststorm, so much potential for doing drivebys with DUMG Does bio have any "high tier" techs...? Physics has nukes AND plasma, electrical has railguns, mech has heavy tanks, chem has ugl, he, hemg, and UML. chem might not have any one strong thing but it has a LOT of strong things. Bio doesn't have much. Add an upgrade to bio where defensive turnips now use biological missiles/bullets (missile and bullets are separate upgrades)
HEMG bio ml + salvo homing is ideal imho. Homing on almost everything cause people suck at aiming rockets.
