If I have the choice of either choosing a HE Tank or a Homing Tank. Then I choose HE. Homing can rape tanks in seconds, problem is that HE, Ranged, Plasma, Bio MG, Guided or Rails can rape a tank even faster. HE or Homing? Guided or Homing? Salvo or Homing? Rails or Homing? HIT or Homing? Ranged or Homing? BioMG or Homing?
I think the issue is that Upgraded MLS are much the same - good at close range combat. Upgraded MLS need a different benefit - maybe make them lighter , but less damage or something? Or less damage/more spam?
The problem is that the upgraded version sucks compared to the standart. The word upgrade normaly tells you that something is better

HOMING is not crap. homing when used strategically in mvalley is one of the most powerful weapons in a commanders arsenal. what i usually do is take map control and corner the enemy into a fortified position. Then I place armories and repair pads in a location relatively close to the base, usually the center (works for all locations). then I have at least 5 of my players get UHML mediums (standard engine reactive uhml for quickest research with armors) and take them to the battle platform. they line up and get in positions. I assign them a unit group usually 5 and then get my front line forces to spot targets in their base. once i can see the target in the comm view, i hit 5 and assign an attack order to whatever i want to kill. even if the target is out of the draw distance, the uhml is crazy fast, and five uhml rockets come out of nowhere hitting the enemy comm or a building at 450dmg per salvo. only takes 3 salvos to kill any building. their base goes down fast, then I charge in with tri-mg apcs to mop up any remaining resistance. the rest is gravy. uhml is one of the most valuable weapons in 2.2 for large maps. it is essentially rocket artillery.
Guided does the work eqaully well, even better. Homing is good for comm rushing, and if you have large numbers of them. But guided 1 on 1 will result in a defeat. And you need professional players to use homing, not a bunch of mic spamming 10 year old noobs. But you should try your strategy again, but then with salvos or guided. You will own them even faster. Homing needs more damage.
homing already does 90. guided and salvo do not work in this scenario as they are not pinpoint accurate as homing is. homing shoots straight. its harder to use guided to hit targets halfway across the map that you cant even see.
Homing is usefull on mvalley, but due the fact that most of the time tanks will rush towards you and shoot you, makes homing absolutly useless. Homing get's raped, and you need allot of people to make an effective homing tank rush.
missles should be for long range, cannons should be for close range. close range should beat long range.
The ultimate power of homing is that normaly every single shot hit. Against a good tank driver you will miss alot of your shots even with guided.
Depends. A problem I noticed with guided missiles is that you need to keep guiding them, and that puts you at a disadvantage against things like cannons. Guided is powerful yes, but it's vulnerable at medium ranges. Homing might be less problematic over long range than guided, and if you can dumbfire it, even over close range.
Then enjoy the game when I take a 6/6 composite double upgraded guided and beat your tank to pulp Homing owns aslong as your target is at the end of the horizon, but when a tank comes close homing wont stand a chance, even on close or medium range.
Try getting dual homing missiles on vehicletraining and just hanging back from the action and continually homing sniping them.
