Anyone know where on the interwebz I can find these models? I found these from here: http://www.halflife.nu/2007/11/21/krenzo-interviewed-about-empires/
We have the left one in our developer archive, but I think only Megel has the right hand side one. Why? Are you a modeller? Can you texture? Can you animate?
LOL, it's ok, you can read it. I just posted to get your attention since I thought that you would know where these models would be. Also, I didn't expect you to reply so soon. I thought you only stopped by once in a blue moon. :p Because I want to help develop aircraft for Empires since no else will, and it would be nice to have these 2 models instead of coming up with 2 different models. With these 2 models and the other 2 models out there (NF fighter and BE Dropship) that means that only the bombers would have to be made. I'm very impatient with modelling. Yes. Only with Flash CS3 :p (so no)
Wait, isn't that the Northern Faction dropship? Or is the jet the Brenodi Fighter? ---- Also, what ended up being the crux that made aircraft impossible? Was the lag issue still present, or was it due to the lack of modelers/animators to finish the aircraft? My suggestion for aircraft was always to put it on a track in the air if flight causes lag, make them operate like land vehicles on an invisible ground with no wheels. Dropships would work because parachutes are on every major server.
Actually I used flash CS4, and it is surprisingly reminiscent of max, you use the same keyframe/timebar system with controlled interpolation. Plus the principles of animation are the same in any medium.
Ha, ofcourse I have those models. We're putting them into Empires Unity (Imperial Unification?). The current Empires Dev team is welcome to them, I've sent a number of them over.
It would be cool if we could get weekly videos of art progress. Like a new reload animation or something. Or panning around a fresh model. Nothing fancy, just little ~20 sec tidbits.
If they don't want their work to go to waste, I'm sure they will do some publicity stuff in the near future. "Free" doesn't guarantee an audience.
