hammer setup

    Hi all sorry to be a pain. I am wanting to create my 1st map. I have source sdk and orange box installed. I am using the wiki normal method to set hammer up. I enter my directory for empires.fgd, then hammer hangs and crashes. any ideas would be gratefull. TIA

    dont use the normal method ;)

    its called "quick method" in the wiki - opposed to "normal method" ;)

    so i didnt think it would need further explanation ...

    yes he wrote he used the wiki - so i assumed he would be able to follow the other steps on his own ;)

    Yea, I rewrote the entire configuration article on the wiki so that it would be up to date for Empires 2.2x and included my method as the "quick" method because in my opinion it's just quicker by all means. It's essentially a copy, paste, and a few account name edits and that's it.

    also if you only own hl2 (as i do) the "normal" method doesnt work - or at least i couldnt get it working ...

    thats nice for you :rolleyes:

    but i allready helped two other guys that way - they couldnt get it to work with the "normal" version either - would just be nice to know if the thread opener got it to work that "quick" way ;)

    The normal method should work if there is at least one configuration already in the gameconfig.txt of the version of hammer you're trying to add a configuration to.
