Alright, I know what you're thinking: "But teh Engy is teh support class wth deyz need ammoz" No. Engies already have tons of ways to get points and get all sorts of cool gizmos. I propose a change. I propose that we instead give the Grenadier the Ammo Box ability. How does it work? - A Grenadier spawns at the base. He does NOT start with an ammo box. - Grenadier heads to a nearby Armory, gets an ammo box from a third ammo dump spot (Like ammo box and Health Box, but this is a dump of ammo boxes, Grenadier can ONLY carry ONE ammo box at a time). - Grenadier carries said ammo box with him as a weapon, but can keep it on his back and use his weapons. - Grenadier can place the ammo box as a normal ammo box, but it's smaller and carries a finite amount of ammo (10 Magazines of Ammo, 5 Explosives for example). - Grenadiers get a point for every Ammo Box they place that gets completely used. - After an ammo box is used, Grenadiers have to wait 30 seconds before they can place a new one after getting another from an army (To prevent farming). - Ammo boxes that haven't been completely used will disappear after 2 Minutes. Why is this a good idea? - It promotes keeping classes varied and gives Grenadiers a supporting role in the attack other than bombardment. - Cuts down on seismic nade spam from engineers and nade spam overall (Since it carries 5 explosives). - Makes it realistic and accessible, not nearly as farmable in points. - Provides another source of point income for Grenadiers.
Wait how exactly do they get points from this ammo? Allow the grenadier to carry ammo if you must, but do not deprive the engineer of having the ability to do so.
too complex, but i agree on the problem and grenadier having the ammobox the engineer has now seems like a great fix already
- Grenadiers get a point for every Ammo Box they place that gets completely used. Basically if you place an ammo box and all of its contents are taken by your teammates you get a point for it. Also, I figured we should deprive the engineer of the ammo drop ability because he is already "The master of Abilities" as is, having two classes that can drop ammo boxes would only add to the problem, not eliminate it as this would.
If anyone should drop ammo crates it's scouts. They can't actually do any nade spamming with the crate and it means they have another desperately needed skill.
Empty does bring up a good point, perhaps the scout should indeed get the perk instead of grenadier. Wasn't thinking about the scout at first, but it's a better idea. Also flasche, Mortar Spam already exists anyway, there isn't any contest for it and like I said you can only get a fixed number of explosives (Mortar shells are included) from a single box of ammo.
Yeah, I like this idea better after thinking on it some more. Give the scouts the ammo carry ability instead. Should I update the OP/Title? Or would that cause confusion when people see the replies?
what is the problem with it? if 1 scout keeping 1 tank disabled is the problem the tank driver can get out with weapon in hand or pop out of the hatch and kill the scout holding only a grenade if the infantrymen are with 4 +1 scout then the tank should not be so foolish to run into them
you also forget the "good part" of seismic spam. engies can outrepair a rax forever, if they actually care ...
