I'm being serious now: We could add link to empires article to third-party-mod section in article about Half-Life 2.
It's just a wikipedia page, no need to consult us. Just add the link and don't make it huge and flashing.
I say try it again, it's been two years and we have had good success since then. There are some wikipedia page outlines floating around here or on the empires wiki. I will help out in any way I can (if you can find me)
Check my sig. (That's directed to those of you who have been around, yet somehow not noticed that we have had one for months.) /facepalm And Zealoth you should go ahead and add that link.
We have an article already, and have for a while. The trick is to note any and all media coverage, as well as awards like the Mod of the Year thing... some measures are subjective, but media coverage is near-universally accepted as indicating that a topic is worth writing an article on (and, more importantly, it also means that there's likely to be something to say that can be backed up by good reliable sources, beyond simply quoting the manual and so on.)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empires_(mod) At the bottom of the above link, you can find References. And the first link of References states Battlefield 1942? http://www.download.com/Battlefield-1942-Empires-mod/3000-7450_4-10255962.html?cdlPid=10255963 On the link above from download.com a user with battlefield 1942 is complaining that it doesnt work. So i assume there is no mod like Empires for BF1942, its Empires for HL2 but got misplaced with BF1942 ?
Empires was originially a BF42 mod, but switched to cryengine1 for a short while before coming to the Source engine. You shouldn't discuss the BF42 version though, it's stated in the forum guidelines since the start.
not to mention from what I've heard it crashed a lot btw... the dude prolly should have looked further for the HL2 version
If you look in the article itself, it says: "Empires began in February 2003 as a mod for computer game Battlefield 1942. Two versions were released on this engine [1][2], but engine limitations forced the developers to move to another engine." The references are links to those Battlefield versions.
This was one month after the release of the first HL2 version. He probably installed this version into his HL2 directory and wondered why it didn't work - poor guy.
Pitch that to EA, quick! They're bound to run out of things to keep the BF franchise going forward in time. I mean, what can you do after lazors? But backwards - they've got plenty to work with. "BF 2142 BC" would be a hit. And in "BF 10,000 BC" you'd drive sabertooth tigers and use sticks, stones and slingshots.
