    considering those of us who use linux, wouldn't it be nice if we could distribute this mod for linux and mac as well so linux users don't have to refer to wine?

    just an idea, a really really good idea.

    No chance without an updated SDK or engine license.

    Is it a really really good idea thats worthwhile spending (potentially) a lot of time on though?

    I had it working decently on Linux with wine years ago, wasnt particularly hard but I wasn't able to get sound working. I'm guessing that was fixed since then? / I was doing something wrong.

    If its easy to do then great. if its hard to do then in my opinion it would need to be looked at in terms of how much of the playerbase would use of it.

    Edit: Ok I got distracted from my reply and brutos beat me to it

    fack this linux update, fucked my steam up. Now I'm getting errors on my Win7 comp that used to just plague linux people. Have to restart steam to compile each part of a map; compile bsp, restart steam, compile vvis, restart steam, compile ldr vrad, restart steam, compile hdr vrad.......this-shit-is-really-really-fucking-annoying.

    well at least I'm not the only one who is enjoying this cry fest.

    A really really good idea would be to install Win7 for playing video games and leave Linux for programming, you know, what it's meant for.

    It's already here. Every 3 months a Linux fanboy logs in and fills up the entire forum with their inferiority complex, effectively making Linux something you do not want to be associated with. If they were actual Linux users and not GNU users like most of them are, they would be able to comprehend that Empires isn't written in Java and therefore you can't just push a button to make it work on every single OS in the world.

    Redo empires code in C since it is far more superior and standardize the code so it can be cross compiled quite easily.

    <insert massive rage of C++ fans(I am one too)>

    Well you could do it in java. Java when coded correctly(allowing use of GPU and proper multithreading) can do some pretty intense shit. I duno how much resources it would take though.

    Empires barely runs on Windows. It will take a miracle of software engineering to get it working on Linux.

    Empires development is full of miracles, so a Linux version is feasible.
