Im assuming this will be a small update focused around fixing bugs and possibly a bit of balancing. Anyway, heres the changelog, as usual if i missed anything please say.
I also changed the launcher to not be a console window. Wanted to use another splash screen though. At the moment I'm using the forum logo which is kinda ugly. I'd like to have this one in big: Alternatively this one:
* Pacifist achievement could be gained by any player with 0 kills at the end of the round. It is now only award to the player with 0 kills and the highest points. Target acquired.
I'll do any map/script changes I need to do over the next week. I want the 2.4 release news to settle in around the various sites, then we'll hit 2.41 pretty soon. It'll be either in a week or 2 weeks, depending on how much time I get when I head back to the UAE in a few days.
No fix for the missing textures on slaughtered and missing minimap on glycen? Come on, it would only take a minute to commit the missing textures.
Id like to think theyll be fixed pretty soon but Im not putting stuff in the changelog before it gets committed either through svn or the git log, if I started doing that the whole thing would turn into a mess. Brutos-I noticed some changes involving the launcher but thought that was mostly behind the scenes stuff, will add that to the post
I'll try and get to them once I have time. It'll be at some point during next week, I can probably put all my shit together.
I do that shit on Escort like once a week. Revive points are so OP, but I love em. I guess I'll have to earn Pacifist again. That would be incredible. Baby steps, you know?
Biggest problem is, if we overdo it and drip-feed then it doesn't seem like "HOLY SHIT HUGE UPDATE" or anything like that. It's maybe better imo to focus on doing it monthly at least, if not a longer timescale.
Monthly updates imo because the servers have to be updated as well and weekly updates would cause unnecessary downtime.
I think that if we can fix a lot of the outstanding bugs with this patch in the next week or 2 then we should aim for a monthly release schedule after that. If you aim for much longer than monthly then you risk adding too many things in which means that testing and fixing the additions drags on and on (see 2.4 for an easy reference)
Quick patches that might only really change the smallest of things every month could revitalize empires. The changelogs could just say vague things like "Optimization / Balance changes".
