Map should be up on viper rotation now. Really hope there are no more game breaking bugs... Only one way to find out though!
Tried to play the new version that is up on viper today literally five minutes ago, and several players (mostly, if not all, ones who had not played the previous version) had no minimap at all. It was the typical black and pink, and when they went into the spawn menu it was just a big 'ERROR' sign (I think, that's how they described it). There were no red/blue dots to select to spawn from. Hope there is a simple fix for this, in the meantime we can't really play it.
there usually is a simple fix -> put minimap in correct folder then put correct folder into the .res file (needs to be done serverside)
On version a4 (only one I've seen, wasn't here for the earlier ones) I get an error that looks like this: missing /maps/emp_commandergrad_a4.bsp Is that on my end or is it something else because I've had that happen before on other maps and the fix was to delete it out of my game folder but I can't find any files for commandergrad.
The map is on the viper fastDL server, Vicki uploaded it. What I would suggest you do franklin is download and install the map manually (extract into the empires/empires directory). Make sure you replace the previous files. If it still doesn't work for some reason, you should delete all files associated with the map. There is the resource file (empires\empires\resource\maps\emp_commandergrad_a4.txt). I doubt you need to remove any of the materials, but if you do you can find where they are located by looking at the file structure of the 7zip. Good luck comrade.
are you sure you delete from the correct empires version? to me it sounds you try to delete from an old install and ofc wont find it there, try %STEAMDIR%\SteamApps\common\Empires\empires\maps it previously has been in your steam user dir instead of common. (or was it the other way round?)
Wanna adjust the flag or something? I have some ideas. 1: Make it drain slower. (So it wouldn't be like, everyone just rush that thing, ignoring other shit because those don't really matter.) 2: If your own flag is being capped, make enemy flag still capturable(eastborough&tropical style).
I never quite understood fast download servers and installing the map. For some reason, I would throw the map in the map folder or whereever it belonged, and then the server would make me re-download the map (some bz2 format or whatever it is) for no fucking reason. Anyone want to explain or is it just all in my head?
We take the map, compress it (in bz2) and host it on a separate server so that the download speeds time is lower.
Looks good, and I'm glad you removed the bleed buuuuuuut..... just keep in mind that flags don't scale with players in terms of resource income. Meaning that your flags are bringing in 1 res/sec at 1 player on each team, and 1 res/sec at 32 players on each team. You may want to tie them to off-map refineries.
