    winxp, as if i really need to comment, was the last solid win environment i dared to use and only cause they finally based iit on NT. Yes it had virus targetting, but what windows ver hasn't? It's the nature of the virus to target the largest userbase.

    After xp i finally decided to make the switch and it's pwesome! Everyone switch in the new year, it'll be fun.

    AFAIR win2k was the first NT based. As long as we're talking about gaming and multimedia, windows 7 does perform quite honorably. The only thing that beats it on the windows sector is server 2k8 with mods to run it as a workstation.

    No desktop system beats a icositetra*core system with 64gigs of RAM and 4 fully usable PCIe 2.0 16x slots.

    I'd apreciate a donation of ~7600 EUR , so I can build a monstrosity.

    I remember using linux, I even did something constructive with my time and learned python, then I reinstalled windows and was even more happy and completely forgot python.

    Since wine 1.3.30 the soundsystem has been improved.
    There have been lots of changes to mmdevapi.dll.
    I couldn't play Empires (crash on joining server) until I replaced /usr/lib32/wine/mmdevapi.so with the one from build wine1.3.29.

    wine1.4 should fix the nvidia graphic bug. I have still minor problems with winealso + pulseaudio , sound may be corrupted.
