Not necessarily, the box would still let you carry tanks etc and offer protection to everything on board. Also I'd not saying that the box should not cushion people at all, just maybe if the box falls from the top of the tallest map (20k units on 16x scale should be a decent sized drop, even if it never gets used as that big) then there should be some penalty other than being in a falling box for 10minutes. Will boxes bounce/skid or just come to an instant stop/embed themselves in the ground?
Well if they follow gravity they'll probably embed themselves in the ground. Althought it'd be hilarious to have them bounce around like in Futurama: "OH SHIT HERE THEY COME, LOAD YOUR WEAPONS" /charges (dununuununnunuununuunununuunuuu)
if there were parashutes think of how easy infantry would be to shoot out of the sky it would be like the easiest way to get kills
If you had just a tank under the aircraft then you'd expect it to take damage properly if it got hit, whereas a box could have its own health/armour (could be amusing to blow a box up and make everything inside fall out). Also if the tank were dropped it'd take full falling damage (I'm fairly sure there is some sort of fall damage for tanks?) rather than being cushioned (either 100% or as I'd prefer by up to 100% depending on the speed the box impacts at). On that note, will dropships be able to pick up vehicles/people without boxes as well as with? (either way can make sense, depending on design)
Nobody actually looked on the website before posting here? No wonder there's so many questions and suggestions.
To misquote Yamamoto Tsunetomo: "The Way of the Forum is one of immediacy, and it is best to dash in headlong."
I thought most things on the website were dubious at best? Like tunnels manual turrents, turrents on top of walls and some other bits that were off. There still isnt much in the way of a description of the mechanics of how it will work, other than saying the box is armoured (which may mean nothing other than you can't get killed with bullets while inside it).
