OK, so for a long time, empires was dying. It was dying becuase loads of us stopped playing. But recently, there has been an influx of new players. Not just a few, now most people I see playing are guys I don't recognise. Half of them are decent enough, some are actually really good team players. Where the fuck are they coming from though? Does anyone know? Chances are now, in a 40+ game that there are 20-30 people who have less than 100 hours. Seems like great success, so how'd that happen?
Was it? When did that happen? Not sure about half of them being decent though, maybe at the basic shooty bits but they never seem to listen to anything I've got to say, even really obvious things like getting in vehicles is a much faster way of getting somewhere, or just how important the cv is. Seriously that hint box when looking at the cv can't come soon enough. I don't know what happened, I used to be perfectly fine with playing with new players, but my goodness I've lost all patience seeing people repeatedly do not very smart things. Though this could be constantly playing against stacked teams, it's times like these where I wished fn was playing again...
I think every new update that gets pushed to steam somehow brings in a wave of new players. Vets, don't forget to rage at them via teamspeak and insult them via chat.
Seeing the new players at first made me excited and then made me uninstall. Every single game was ruined by comm stealing or other awful shenanigans. And they never listen to a word you say.
Plot twist this is actually like a backlog of new players who got insulted by one or more now perma-banned players over several years, who just now all heard that their oppressors have disappeared into the night.
I scrolled through every single page of the free to play section yesterday, couldnt find empires. Also where are the new players?
They're not joining because the servers are empty, and they're empty because all the vets have gotten older or haven't been told empires is still alive.

lawl to this. Two boomtanks just tonight. I mean, I basically rely on Quigon to invite me when there's a game up. Is there an Empires server-is-populated event server group? Red Orchestra 2's devs got me on whenever they posted one of those.

Or you could be like me and probably a dozen more people and just have 90 people on your friends list who play empires somewhat regularly. Can also somewhat double as a strangely decent metric to tell which team has more vets on it.
