You're never meant to touch those Dell systems. I have some at work...and to do anything with them, you need to disassemble them. TO some degree, I was hesitant to change CPUs without pulling the mainboard out of my old Antec 900. There's a reason mainboard trays in cases were removable...it helped a lot. Thankfully, Dell has gotten away from their clamshell case.
I remember my brother taking a hack saw to one of their clamshell cases to remove some components from it. I came down stairs and almost decked him for having a pair of wire cutters, hammer, hacksaw, and rivet gun at the same table as these computer cases and their hardware. but yeah, he got a couple of nice card readers and USB ports out of it. managed to fit it into the A: Drive for an old case he was using.
