    I agree.

Is this a bad thing? Should I make them more flat and less curved?

That shit is too big, scale down the width by 15~20%ish.
    Height's okay.

So now I got comparison pictures containing our two favourite tanks. The BE and NF heavy.

Thoughts? My model is still at 25x scale btw...

its gigantic in comparison - its the size of a super-heavy tank if there would be such things in empires.
select model, press s, type .8, enter. then scale the small details (like hatch or the boxes at the sides) up to fit again.

I kind of like the big look, gives it a big hit box and if you see one from a distance there is NO mistaking it for what it is with that big gun. If I was in a heavy, I'd turn the other way and run or try to find an alternate route to try and flank.

That is SO not the way tank destroyers are supposed to work IRL, but alright, carry on. ^^

Well, considering TD"s arent used in modern day combat, at least often, of course that isn't how they work. TD's towards the end of WW2 were HUGE as fuck, had a big gun, and tank drivers going up against them expected to die because their fronts were almost impenetrable so they would have to flank...

The Jagdtiger, Elephant, and Jagdpanther were all end of WW2 tank destroyers that were huge and absolutely deadly.

That statement is actually not true for the Jagdpanther and Jagdpanther 2. You had to lay ambushes with those and stay hidden. And even for the other two there are numerous reports of crews that used Jagdpanthers before being switched to Ferdinands (Elephant) or Jagdtigers and still using the same tactics being far more useful in combat and actually not loosing their vehicle in contrast to crews that came from other models like the Marder 2. Look up what the Marder 2 looked like. It's pretty understandable, that your crew suddenly feels invincible if they are allowed to drive around in a Jagdtiger.

And you are not entirely correct. Tank Destroyers are still used in modern combat. You just don't see any casemate tank destroyers anymore. The B1 Centauro for example can be classified as a tank destroyer.

It really really looks pointlessly huge.

that looks even funnier if you rotate it in blender, but its only due to the orthographic camera ...

Yes but it is very close to today's tanks. I mean just look at the Leopard 2 or the Abrams. Most of the length of their guns are internal to the turret.

They are not thick enough for it to be a 105mm let alone 120mm of modern main tanks, and the barrel is just a tube. NF is even worse. BE heavy looks like a german style AA. They could be two chainguns.

Leaving these here because I randomly found them a while back and they are awesome.

To me, the BE Heavy looks like a modernized Tiger H1. Looking at it in game from behind and from the front it just gives off that vibe.

So I did a bit of scaling, and reshaped the tower on the TD, re-shaped the barrel but kept it at the same length, and made the hatch the same size as the heavy tanks.

The barrel is the same height as the BE heavy tank's. And can pitch +- 10 degrees, and turn +-20 degrees.

I still think it looks a bit fat from the front.. but the height is better now, and the overall scaling too...

    Thoughts?

edit: also added a viewport on the tower just above the barrel

Looks good, looks armored and ready for warfare. Perhaps maybe elongating it a tad or would that be a no no?

I think it should be smaller than the heavy tanks personally, they should take the position of top dog... So I don't really want it any longer, but maybe the tracks a bit thinner...

    MOAR PICTURES!

All future comparisons will be with the Med and Arty tanks. Since its supposed to fit within that size bracket.
