If any new players are interested in learning to command, PM me and we can pick a server to learn on. You need to have a mic.
It's a lot to ask for, but sometime in the distant future when more programmer resources are available, it may be prudent to include some sort of a "Commander training" that all people who want to command must pass. Maybe... it'd be some sort of an online quiz that, when you pass, will store your steam ID on a master server making it possible to vote for you in game. (This could be part of the stats ?)
most people that don't know how to command are on the servers. a couple of times i've asked people that want to know how to command if they want a tutorial in an empty server, and given it to them. whats needed is some REALLY. GOOD. VIDEOS. even just a commander doing a good job of commanding in a video and having a voiceover explaining why it's good.
Anyone who wants to learn how to command should learn from multiple people. You don't want one sided advice, or just one persons tactics. If you listen to many people, you can get a lot of tactics and research plans. Some people are very biased with some research trees and tactics. One way to learn is have a few experienced commanders play on your team while you command. They can instruct you and correct you as you command, so you can tell where you make your mistakes. The most important thing you can do is pay attention to your team, and what people are saying. Microphones help a lot too. I picked up how to command by a few people, don't remember, instructing me through a full game and Wattskai, Keef, Patton, Scardy, Sodaen and guineapig. Even after you learn how to command, it is good to pick up on other people's strategies.
lol I told every match yesterday that I want to command but nobody voted me. With the result that we had commanders that started to research after 5-10 minutes in the game...
Commanding is easy 1. Don't use your mic, it will district your troops. 2. Since using a mic is a bad idea, typing to them is even worse. Avoid it. 3. First research heavys 4. If BE get railguns 5. Then maybe HE cannon 6. Fission engine. 7. Composite armor. If you are NF - Lock your VF 1.Save 3000 res, get nukes. 2. Get heavy tanks. 3. Get arty, you know.. just incase the nukes can't shoot through walls and such. 4. Get mediums 5. IDK maybe get bio missle launcher, for the greens 6. Get Fission Engine. 7. Composite armor, TA COUNTER THE RAILS YA KNO? 8. Profit.
