If you're in commander mode and zoom in on a low-altitude area, and then try to pan the camera up a cliff, it will become stuck, rather than zooming out. Steps to reproduce: * Load up emp_isle * Enter command vehicle command mode * Zoom in close to the ground near the beach * Try to pan back up a cliff
It's like trying to tilt your view in streets. Camera is a solid object, so it gets stuck in solid stuff.
If the displacement (bumpy surface) is concave, you can get the camera really stuck, so even manually zooming out won't work. I don't care if you think it's intended. This is broken as fuck, and clearly a bug.
It's not a feature it's just how it is. "interpolating" isn't a feature so this can't be classified as interpolation is bugging out. This should be in suggestions, not it bugs.
The fact that players see this "feature" as a very annoying bug is a testament to how badly this change needs to happen.
Ok, so when we move the camera as comm while turning and bump into something solid, just move it? What to do when we click on a place in the minimap that gets us stuck? Disallow the move? Just looking for feedback and ideas
You mean the camera is rotating? I think in that case you can just disallow the move. It's more about blocked panning that I find obstructive, in which case I think the camera should be automatically zoomed out to accommodate the raised terrain.
I've tried no clip before in comm view, it doesn't work if I remember right. You're still solid I think.
I have to say I do want this changed to always allow panning the camera. Some maps are are a complete pain to comm on because the camera gets stuck all the time.
