I know that when you first start a round you already have 5 pop up screens you have to go through before you can spawn, so I don't want to add another one. So I propose that we combine the squad and class screen so that everytime you pick a class you also see a list of squads you can join. Mainly this is to encourage people to be in squads, as currently in 2.2 squad participation is at an all time low. How hard would this be to implement?
Hey, that'd be neat. But how would it work, technically? The best solution would be tabs, but I don't know if that's possible. Maybe you could attach the squad screen to the bottom of the class window?
I believe the next version of empires (2.3) will have an totally overhauled interface. So we just have to wait and see what happens. It is not the first time this has been suggested (or variants of it). I believe the GUI guy was planning on removing all the drop down menus as well to make the interface more intuitive. =)
