Can't join the 1.08 server.

I'm having a problem with 1.08, and I can't get in Mantis for some reason, so I thought I'd post it here.

As the title says, I can't join the 1.08 server. I get a "This Steam account does not own this game.".

... lolwut?

I have Half Life: 2, Garry's Mod, CS:S, and the Source SDK Base. The game shows up in my games list, and I can start it just fine.

I really want to play this, but it's kinda hard to do so when I can't even join. Any help would be wonderful.

did you make sure too close steam before you installed it?

It shouldn't be necessary, but who knows?

 

You can play other mods?

 

Sure can. Zombie Master, Iron Grip, Eternal Silence, etc.

I can even play 1.07 of Empires.

 

Go to your empires' directory and delete the Steam.inf file in there. We had to use that to fix a problem Valve added. Maybe they fixed the problem.

Can you play HL2 DM?

 

make sure your gameinfo.txt file has same stuff as this in 1.08 folder.

I downloaded 28, still couldn't join. Deleted the Steam.inf, and it said my version didn't match.

Also, I don't own DM, so I wouldn't know if I could play it or not.

 

HL 2 DM comes with Half-Life 2. If you can't play HL 2 DM, then you can't play Empires or any mods. This was changed by Valve several months ago.

 

I was given Hl2 from somebody that got the Orange Box. He was giving it away along with Hl2 ep1. Some other guy got that though.

 

Looks like the best way to play Empires now is to buy Episode 1 for $10. :>

It's worth it anyway.

 

I don't have $10... or a credit card.

 

But you said you can play other mods with your HL2 gift? Tell me specifically what mod you can play.
