Well the problem curled up and died after I spent a few hours trying to get my main character out of an instance in WoW [the servers were on the fritz again]. So uh, WoW servers going down must fix this, because I didn't do anything between last check and it working. *shrug*
Due to the random nature of this bug, and how it rarely ever happens, it probably won't ever be fixed... unless you manually generate a minidump of hl2.exe when the bug occurs, and send it to Krenzo.
Yeah, well now it's back. But I've found a fix. Just hit enter as soon as you bring up any menus, it fixes the problem. And it's not that much longer to wait. The vehicles menu [THANK GOD] is unaffected, so the main things that will require a ton of speed [getting a new vehicle design up while getting assaulted by an APC] are as usual.
It's complicated, I can do everything, but like the OP said, it takes longer. [the hardest menus to navigate are the class selection ones] Strangely, all of the default menus that pop up as soon as you connect work fine, a clue, prehaps?
I had this bug once, I tried restarting Empires, restarting Steam and reinstalling Empires but it didn't go away until I rebooted my computer! :confused:
i know ! someone who knows it knows it Maybe its in the code, maybe its your hardware, hell maybe its cuz your holding your farts i dont know. Point is, someone needs to fix it in a patch or the next release. In the meantime, please enjoy yourselves
