Bring back the SMG3! (alongside a BE equivalent, of course)

    YES!

    I'm suggesting that in the coming scout rebalance, the scout gains the shotty, for close range rapeage, and a new medium range, jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none SMG. Basically, the SMG3 is reintroduced as a medium range weapon that strikes a balance between the SMG's without being too overpowering (like the origial ^^). BE gain a similar weapon, some kind of light assault rifle that could feasibly be bashed together out of the current weapons, perhaps with the magazine behind the grip thingy for variety.

    Scouts should lose the ability to use the other two SMG's, though.

    Thoughts?

    or... instead of the SMG3, scouts could have a sniper with bullet drop and a new ranger skill :D

    No its not going! A sniper with bullet drop fits perfectly. Shotguns are gonna get tons of complaints

    It is. Stop bitching. Ever since 2.0 went public, its removal has been planned. It just took so long due to lack of a model for the replacement.

    The thing is, you could give a scout a pewpew death laser and that alone still wouldn't save them.

    Riflemen are perfectly good at killing infantry at any reasonable range, and they can also kill tanks at close range with stickies, or infantry indirectly with explosive grenades.

    Grenadiers are perfectly good at kill infantry at any reasonable range, and can also kill vehicles at any range, and buildings at any range... and can do any of the above indirectly if they want.

    (By 'reasonable', I mean it's unlikely that any infantry weapon is going to be made that outranges either of them.)

    Why would anyone want a class that can only kill infantry via direct fire at short or even medium-long range, and can't kill tanks or structures at all? Unless the scout's new weapons are made so powerful that they completely rape riflemen and grenadiers, it alone isn't going to help them, because whatever it does the rifleman can do somewhat better while killing tanks, and the grenadier can do vastly better while killing structures and tanks.

    I mean, this is well-known. But it needs to be said anyway when a suggestion like this comes up. The scout does need a new weapon (like the shotgun, or whatever), but unless it's a new weapon that can kill vehicles and structures as well, that alone isn't going to help them. The class needs to be redesigned from the ground up. (And IMHO other classes are probably going to need to be changed as well just to make room for them. Engineers, Riflemen, and Grenadiers all cover too much ground and are too good at what they do to leave a useful niche for a class that can't kill tanks.)

    Okay, the scout can't kill them (except for turrets). But a scout can spot things (and get a point for spotting it when it gets destroyed), stun sticky tanks (quite helpful if the scout isn't alone) and sabotage buildings (halfs building's hp, makes them less effective and can destroy turrets).

    And yes, bring the SMG3 back. :P

    or you can do the easier and just as good, if not better, thing and just remove the scout class and give the scout's abilities and class skills to the rifleman

    then we would just have to buff grenadier slightly and we have three balanced infantry classes, and then we can attempt to balance the tanks (and the races)

    I don't think with the 2.22 balance that there is any room for another SMG that doesn't do what is already done by one of the existing ones.

    A shotgun, two SMGs, and possibly access to the long ranged rifles would be more than sufficient armament for the scout.

    What part of 'there is no room for an SMG that does not do what is already done by one of the existing ones' was not emphasised enough? Between the SMG2 and the carbine/50cal you already have all roles filled by the HMG, AR, and SMG1.

    SMG3 > Everything. It has a BIPOD. It's an ultra portable machinegun that, as Krenzo once said, is used to raze entire villages :D

    I used it and as I remember it did more or less what the SMG2 does now.

    considering were already working with the nf model, im workin on those animations guys, THE SCOUT RIFLE IS AS GOOD AS GONE
