oops i took 7100 polys off the barracks and now it looks like that. I rebuild the whole barracks from scratch. What i did: -made the profile lower -on closest LOD model original had 7810 polygons, mine has 694 -dropped amount of textures used -got rid off barrels and crates. They had 3000+ polygons, reduced them to about 2000 but guys at #empiresmod insisted i loose them There are 3 LOD models from closest to farthest poly count goes: 694,496, 244 162 Some ingame screenshots Only thing missing is collision model and it will be fully functioning barracks model.
Well, krenzo has now stated it: He wants a Frame Per Second gameplay :D To say the truth it is a bit bare looking without those boxes and barrels. I'll see what i can do to drop polygons on them. btw. got the collision model finished too.
How many hulls does the collision mesh have? That thing will slow the server down if it's too complex.
I tested today normal map and specular impact on fps. Large/huge areas in buildings use this. After turning it off I got huge FPS increase. Warfle had 3x old frame rate. (mat_specular 0 mat_bumpmap 0). Boxes don't hurt that much (poly count also doesn't) What hurts is the pixel rate caused by using bump mapping and stuff on huge areas.
There's about 20 parts in the collision model. Original had a few more for the boxes and stuff. I added the barrels and crates and now polycount on closest LOD is 2457.
hay , good on changing the buildings , but evenchally both sides will have structures that are perfect , and look simaler. thats good , but the NF were ment to be less equiped anyway i say maby change the structures every year or so , like some sort of continuing storyline of different arcitecture that both sides change to get the better of each other. well , just an idea
Isn't it obvious that normal and specular map will cause a hit in frame rate? That's why those who still have a prehistoric computer will want to disable it while those who have upgraded recently will leave it on to be able to appreciate the better graphics. You make it sound like we should get rid of all fancy graphical effects because not everyone can handle them.
Actually no, in Soviet Russia, my parents had quit a normal chiledhood (no drugs atleast). So no, every body were suffering seperatly. Also, i would like to know who made the Russian like voices. as a russian, i take this horrible accent as an offence.
I did too at first, but it grew on me Those who hear me on BSID Vent channel, does my accent also sound like that?
