It's not fine, often it just doesn't get researched. To be honest it would be better if, spawn points took up utility slots (like the gren launcher) as has been suggested numerous times. Then you wouldn't afford it too early on and you'd have a choice of spawn point or more armour/weapons. But I do realize that the current code-base probably doesn't support this so in the meant time the research option isn't the worst stop-gap measure.
they should be researched first, especially if you're going to try to get your maggots to use APCs instead of AFVs
I'm one of those people who doesn't research APC spawns. Call me an idiot if you want, but unless we're getting battle APC's, I don't research spawns until we have good meds out there (or are losing and need a rush). Reason? It takes up valuable time more than res I guess...I'm also a big fan of placing barracks. I just don't see why you absolutely have to do it. My team don't usually complain about not having spawns when they have a barracks and turrets everywhere they go. And armouries, gotta love those things. As with everything, it's dependent on the situation, and any edge you can get over your opponent is helpful...but then I shouldn't have said that, 'cos I want to keep my 'edge'.
I think the gameplay was much better and more fluid with the spawnpoints, and the way people could organise a team into a strike assault group fairly easily really mixed up the gameplay. I always liked it as it was and I'm not sure why it was changed. $0.02 i'm sure there's a logical reason for the change.
If you have comm 60 second wait time it would be silly to bring back APC spawnpoints, as people would rush VF and APC rush ASAP every time to try and get a quick comm kill. I am also of the school of not automatically researchign it every game - if your losing on tickets you will lose harder if people start blowing up 8 at a time doing fail APC rushes, or piling out of APCs and getting nailed by turrets constantly. If my team don't know how to stay alive I won't research it until later and use the saved time getting better tanks first. If my team is winning however it is good to research, to keep pressure on the enemy team by pushing them back with moving spawns.
You have to walk for ages. This ruins all Empires dynamicness. And spawnpoints could be locked in first 5 mins of game. Also i saw jeeps of death - 3 riflemen with stickys and ammo upg, one scout with ammo and stun nade.
I don't see anything wrong with it. APCs are useful as anti-infantry fighting vehicles and supply/transport even without spawns, and if you're going down the APC route as your strategy you should be researching spawns anyway. It takes all of one minute to research so if your team lost because you didn't have APC spawns then your comm is a complete idiot and you would have lost anyway. It does what it's supposed to do which is stop APC rushing at the start, and doesn't break the game in the process.
