Heres the problem. Enemy has arty, you might have it, and you are in a map where base areas are spacial but everywhere else is bottlenecked. Artillery shots are VERY high profile, meaning, that when enemy artillery shoots, the icon for it pops up in the respective place on the minimap. infact it doesn't matter about space, but artillery are pretty annoying. This suggestion alerts allies about this madman bombarding your base. The commander could then kindly ask someone, or better yet, someone who acts on their on accord, go over and cause a ruckus, destroy the tank, and get outta there before anyone becomes wiser. tl;dr version: Enemy artillery is firing, your minimap is going madness. the main message it is trying to give you is "CLOSE UP THE MAGAZINE AND DESTROY THAT GODDAMN ANNOYING ROLLING PIECE OF METAL OR ELSE YOU ARE A PUSSY, OK, NOW DO IT BEFORE I PERFORATE YOU! BLARGH!"
dunno, i never had a problem recognizing the very individual sound arty makes. and usually this information gets relayed to the team pretty quickly. ofc often guys neither pay attention to text nor to voice, but it gets said at least once every 2 minutes after the first one shows up, as those unaware guys realize it one by one and feel the need to inform the rest that knows already ... arty is basically only a "problem" on money and slaughtered (tho it would work great on canyon too - see empires pug) and that maps are flawed anyway imo.
Often the problem isn't to know that an arty tank is shooting at you, it's pretty obvious (Death), but to get next to the arty tank..
if you look up its pretty obvious where the arty shoots from ... if you dont get to it without watching the shells fly, you wont get there even if it shows up on the minimap with a big red blinking sign.
I thought this would be some kind of buildable turrets that blow up arty shells when they are incoming.
Lets just make it so artillery need to deploy to shoot, so they can't zip off like small speedy japanese smart cars at the first sight of a threat. Also lets make artillery missle weapons now, and you can shoot down these missles with anti-missle turrets (that shoot missles)
i tried out with scripts for really slow artillery projectiles, and not only did it work great, it also looked very very nice
And then we can have anti-anti-missiles that shoot the anti-missiles and anti-anti-anti-missiles that fire at the anti-anti-missiles.
Make arty show up on minimap when they fire. Counter with more arty. Which they counter with arty. Which you counter with arty. Etc.
arty countering arty countering arty countering arty would be fun if there are like 4 or 5 groups, and when all the shells came down all the arties are dead
soup dawg, we herdz you like counter-attacks, so we counter-attacked your arty while you counter-attacked our arty, so you can rage while you rage.
I like the idea of showing arty to the enemy team on the minimap every time they fire. The game is more fun when it feels like you have a way of fighting back. It wouldn't solve everything, of course, but it would be a nice step.
